M41s still in use in Thailand22 Sep 2006 06:49 GMT9
Did my eyes deceive me the other day on the news or is the Thai army still
getting good service out of these? I knew they (and others) had been
upgrading the design with new engines and weapons tech back in the 80s and
90s, but I half expected that they had moved on to something ...
HH-60J "Jayhawk" info needed22 Sep 2006 05:31 GMT3
Need to find a suitable kit for my USCG son. I find many
Blackhawk/Seahawk kits, but none mention Coast Guard markings. Many
look like the conversion would be beyond his skills. So I have a few
questions:

OT!:Need something bought in the US.21 Sep 2006 00:32 GMT1
Calling all USians... would any of you be able to order me something from a
US shipping-only on-line store and get it to me? I need a couple of
batteries for my digital camera and these guys seem to be the only place in
the world with them at the moment! Another month at least ...
Do I need one - Surface Grinder20 Sep 2006 23:51 GMT16
Having eventually sorted out which mill to buy I'm now short of
something to "collect", my thoughts have turned to a small Surface
Grinder (Eagle?), but do I need one? Do those of you lucky enough to
own one use it very often or is it an ornament in the corner? Would I
Monogram 1/48 Stuka question.20 Sep 2006 23:13 GMT3
After years I have finally found the belly bomb and crutch for the
Stuka I had put aside and misplaced years ago.  That is the only part
not in place.  However, I find that the Stuka's belly is plain and
does not have any bomb rack.  I don't believe I left that out when I
Pickering, anything new or interesting20 Sep 2006 21:59 GMT6
Come on guys you must have made it home by now, anything to talk about
at Pickering this weekend. I'm afraid it's too far "oop north" for me
but has it revealed anything I can look forward to when I go to
Warwick. Although I worked hard to get an "allocation" from SWMBO for

Today my main company fuse blew when my rotary converter was spinning
away driving the chiller. Total load about 15KW. The poor old fuse has
been repeatedly stressed for the last 22 years that we have been here

Milling with a morse taper20 Sep 2006 17:20 GMT8
I've recently bought a small-ish milling/drilling machine for some
light specialist toolmaking in my home workshop. It has a MT2 head for
attaching tools. This is fine for drilling with a Morse drill chuck.
But is this secure enough to do milling too? Can I modify it at all to
How to put wheels (landing gear) on balsa Spitfire?20 Sep 2006 14:36 GMT4
How do I attach the wheels and landing gear on a Guillow balsa Spitfire
model. Do I punch a hole in the tissue on the bottom of the wing? And
where do the "M1" pieces go? The instructions are not too clear on that.
I've got the tissue on the fuselage, the wing, the stabilizer and ...
