Is anyone else having problems with uk.rec.models.engineering?

although other uk.rec groups remain.
I then tried Google Groups but they only have postings up to June this year!
Myford chuck guard31 Oct 2006 21:06 GMT14
I'm looking for a clear plastic chuck guard for my Myford 7 - more to

My Lorch-Schmidt lathe uses 12.5mm collets and I have a few missing

these are as an item.  After asking around at Alexandra Palace
juding from the blank looks most people seem to think I've got
Tamiya 1/12 motorcycle kits: How to avoid the bin31 Oct 2006 18:39 GMT1
I have quite a bit of experience modelling. Most of it extremely frustrating
if I am honest. I don't think I have built a kit yet that I was really happy
with, and 2 years ago I told my wife that if I ever bought a kit again she
should throw it straight in the bin before I start ...

Bare copper wire ???31 Oct 2006 12:36 GMT15
I need to achieve 68 sq mm of copper conductor threaded up the spout
of 3/4" bore non-conductive hose in approx 10 metre lengths. Ideally I
would like a source of about 20 metres of fine stranded  (needs to be
flexible) 70mm cross sectional area bare copper wire but it seems like
Fitting VFD to BH600 lathe31 Oct 2006 11:26 GMT2
I decided to break the bank and bought a NewtonTesla VFD system for
the BH600.
Has anyone else fitted one, and if so, where and how did you fit the
control box, and do the connections into existing electrics?
Getting aluminium out of fine pitch tap31 Oct 2006 10:45 GMT13
I got some aluminium smeared in a few threads of a good quality tap -
its small -  4mm x 0.7 so I cannot pick it out.
Any suggestions ?

Question relating to power factors and old welder31 Oct 2006 09:19 GMT37

Does such a kit exist in styrene? It does not have to be a highly

I am looking to replace my little Clarke Micro Mill. I have looked a

looked around the Major machine seems to offer a good size capabilit
for the cost. Main concerns were if it is poorly designed like th

removing my paw prints from chrome30 Oct 2006 19:48 GMT3
Well during the great October blizzard of 2006 (we got over 2 feet), I
spent all day friday at the bench building one of the new Revell 1/6

to get a lot of greasey fingerprings on the chrome.  I tried just a
