Sensible Flycutting Size16 Oct 2006 12:33 GMT9
Sometime in the next few  weeks  I may have a need to do some fairly
wide flycutting on some Aluminium plates. Depth of cut won't be really
large, just enough over a few passes to get it quite flat.
The problem is these plates will be about 10"-12" wide and around 18"
Toolposts15 Oct 2006 18:58 GMT11
I've got a nice Dickson T1 toolpost on my lathe with a slack handful
of toolholders. However I've found that original toolholders are like
rocking horse crap (and slightly more expensive). The replica ones
just don't fit very well.
switch15 Oct 2006 18:49 GMT10
Anyone got a source for a decent-sized DPDT switch.  Rated about 240V, 30A
would do.  If it has an "off" in the middle, so much the better.
want it for a reversing switch for a single-phase motor, on my Colchester
Student.  Currently, the motor is only 1.5HP, and I have a 2-gang ...
Workholding in the lathe15 Oct 2006 18:41 GMT5
Question for you peeps, was wondering if anyone can come up with a
better way.
I have 10 steel discs, about 20mm diameter, 4mm thick, that I need to
hold & put a groove in one face of.
Speculating on Heller / Airfix situation15 Oct 2006 16:46 GMT20
I am lucky enought to be near a good hobby shop that has lots of
Humbrol / Heller / Airfix kits and supplies in stock.  I was thinking
about speculating with some $$$$ with hopes that the value of these
items will climb as the supply goes away.  Anyone have any thoughts??
agitator's hat is on!15 Oct 2006 16:44 GMT74
Hi Troops:
For those of us in the USA, a question. Do you think gasoline will get
down below $2 a gallon before the election, and what do you think the
odds are of it getting back up to $3 a gallon by Christmas???
5/8" BSP reducer needed.15 Oct 2006 12:38 GMT3
I'm looking for a brass, stainless or plastic fitting with a 5/8" BSP
parallel or taper male OD.
Ideally it should have a 3/8" BSP female thread but I can tap out a
smaller one, reduce a larger one or adapt a male to male.

Big Hack on Ebay14 Oct 2006 02:32 GMT13
I was just on ebay.........As usual, I clicked on toys and then took
the model kits tab.  When I started to scroll down, there was a couple
of pictures of girls in bathing suits there.  I laughed to myself and
thought I was looking at a different kind of "model"  I clicked on one
