steam requirements for an engine13 Apr 2007 17:02 GMT26
Could some kind soul tell me how to calculate the steam requirements of a
steam engine - let us say a twin cylinder, double acting, 2 in. bore x 2
in. stroke operating at 80 psi and 500 rpm- in lbs./hour?
Thanks in advance for any knowledge offered.

1/72 scale Gato Class Sub..13 Apr 2007 02:02 GMT6
I just did something to my 1/72 scale Gato sub today.
The periscopes on the sub was very bad. They had some bows on both
periscopes. What I did was, I bought me some 3/32X.014 aluminum rods on them
and it turned out perfect. Now the periscopes are very straight.

Identifying Titanium12 Apr 2007 18:17 GMT10
I've got some titanium wire which might be 'commercially pure titanium' but
could be 6:4 titanium (6% Aluminium, 4% vanadium). How can I confirm if it's
the pure type or not?
Thanks,
Problem with dope / thinners12 Apr 2007 18:16 GMT1
Having not done any modelling like this for a very long time, I've
just been coating the wings of a small model aircraft with a 1:1
dope / cellulose thinners mix and as it has dried, rather than going
clear, it has produced a white deposit / residue (smooth, but quite

Imperial oil seals. Where to get?12 Apr 2007 09:20 GMT3
I appear to be in need of a couple of 7/8"od 3/8" id oil seals. All of my
usual suspects, Arceurotrade, Cromwell, J&L, RS, Farnell, Chronos. seem to
either not do oil seals or only do metric ones. I suspect that Wyko could get
me some, but might get pissed off at such a small order. ...
(Naval) Revell box scale aircraft carriers Qs12 Apr 2007 07:50 GMT13
I have both issues of the post war angle decked Lex. I was looking at the
Midway with Gemini recovery version. Now I know the Lex is a Midway class
but is the Midway kit the same as the Lex?
are the aft gun tubs on the Midway like both Lexs?
FS: Small English Wheeling Machine.12 Apr 2007 07:49 GMT6
I have made up a small batch of my own design wheeling machines, or english
wheeling m/c. They are light and compact and designed to be posted. 722mm
high 322mm throat. Come with three anvils and top flat wheel. I have sold a
few now, but thought that I best make the model making ...
Who makes good helicopters?12 Apr 2007 06:57 GMT3
I've had the urge to build some model helicopters lately, so who makes
a good kit?  I used to build a lot of tanks when I was younger and I
always thought the Tamiya tank kits were a cut above their
competitors.  What about helicopters, anyone have an opinion?  Some of

Hello Gents,
After reading the responses to my request for tooling advice for m
