Question:  New Kit Parts Problems10 Jun 2007 18:45 GMT5
I am curious about the experience of others when they open a new kit
and inspected the parts.  I have been at this hobby on and off for 50
years now and its rare (none comes to mind) to have any problems with
the plastic injection parts.  I build them right out of the box.  Its

Moving a CVA single handed10 Jun 2007 12:49 GMT18
Picked up my "new" CVA lathe today. It's a heavy old beast for the
back of a double garage at 1450kg.
I rented a 12ft platform trailer and towed it behind my Volvo V70. The
maximum towing capacity of the Volvo is 1800kg so this was right on

P-51 rivets10 Jun 2007 00:41 GMT2
Last week I had the opportunity to check out a P-51D, and at least on this
one, there clearly are rivets on the wings, both top and bottom. For ease of
maintenance, the whole plane is painted, and of course it is completely
restored. The owner was unaware of any instances where ...
When To Remove Masking Tape09 Jun 2007 23:53 GMT4
Usually I don't use masking tape because I generally go with one color
for my models.  However, I am going to paint a Grumman Albatross using
4 colors (white, red, blue and black, and of course Tamiya fine white
primer).  My question is:  when does one remove the masking tape?
Bridgeport table feed micro switches09 Jun 2007 22:53 GMT2
Having stripped the power feed on the Bridggy, that packed up half way
through a job, (as is the norm) I have found one switch broken and the other
in a not to good state. Would I assume these are a Bridgeport parts, or is
there a recommended supplier you guys may be able to ...
Any Diesel experts?09 Jun 2007 19:28 GMT1
I've acquired a non-working 1992 diesel Wacker (compactor) plate of
enormous size (144Kgs) fitted with a Farryman 15D single cylinder
diesel engine. I think that the problem is the injector as it's nose
looks horrible (semi-melted), and if I disconnect the pipe into the

T-34 question for Cookie09 Jun 2007 07:09 GMT7
Hi Cookie.  You are the expert on Russian armor.  Just aft of the T-34
headlight is a what looks like a horn or klaxon.  Its present on every
T-34 tank and the Su hulls. What is it used for?
I'll be making them for the 1/25 Tamiya models.  I have spare
Quickie Review: Jules' CD09 Jun 2007 06:06 GMT13
I got my copy in yesterday's mail and have had a look at parts of
it.  There are very many pictures on this disc and the detail captured
is very clear on most I've looked at.  One can see just how crudely
Soviet air machinery was built.

D-Day Pathfinders jump.........08 Jun 2007 13:37 GMT2
At just about this time 63 years ago the pathfinders took off from England
to mark the drop zones for the 82nd and 101st ABN Divs.  My mother's first
cousin (made him my 2nd cousin, I guess) made that jump with the 502nd PIR.
God bless em all!
