Light admiralty grey08 Aug 2007 10:19 GMT1
Does anyone know if any paint range has this colour ready mixed (FS
35414 or BSC 697), or if there is a chart somewhere that tells me how
to mix this colour? I need it to paint the underside of a SAAF Impala.
Thanks
Changes in Pacific Theater Aircraft Paint Color Question08 Aug 2007 01:22 GMT6
In the early years, the USN used a lighter color of blue, but when the
Hellcat showed up, it is shown in a much darker blue.
any reasoning behind the change of shade ???   I guess the two tone
scheme was new too..

Having become confident that I can now turn EN1 to size and finish,  I've
just spent a weekend making a real bugger of a piece of 1/2inch EN8.   All
I've been trying to do is turn it to 12mm with a good finish and finally
almost got to a decent finish.  Even fine cuts with a ...

What is the word for when you are turning steel and you pour liquid on it,
presumably to stop the tool over heating?
You may start to see a number of these posts!(:-(
I hope this is for real06 Aug 2007 16:57 GMT6
I pre-ordered a Revell / Monogram 1/48 Visible B-17G yesterday from
hobbylinc.com.  I hope this is for real.  I've been trying to get one
of these for about 2 years.  The price is certainly a lot better on
what I hope is a reissue of this kit. They have been pushing $200 on

Poor quality books05 Aug 2007 17:39 GMT43
I realize that military/aviation history books are expensive because
of a limited market.  However, if we have to pay that much for a book,
at least to me it should be of good quality.  I am re-reading one of
my aviation history books by a popular publisher of such books (I will

Best way to make a pulley for round belt04 Aug 2007 21:01 GMT6
Inspired by Nick, I'm going to make a tramp oil skimmer for my mill. I've
scrounged a length of 7mm dia. PU belt that I'm going to use but I don't
have any pulleys, so I plan to turn up a pair. I'm going to use Delrin and
need to cut the correct profile which is a shallow flat ...
