Link Belts30 Sep 2007 20:49 GMT3
I have a Boxford model B (rear motor) which has two belts - a
conventional one to the countershaft and a link belt from the
countershaft to the headstock.  Both are tensioned by an overcentre type
lever.  The belt wasn't new when I got the lathe and hasn't been

MRC/Atomic City Mercury Capsule instructions: need scan30 Sep 2007 19:25 GMT3
I stupidly lost the assembly instructions for my 1/12 MRC Mercury
Capsule. (I had them out to study, and I think they ended up mixed in
with some newspapers that went to recycling.) Can someone out there e-
mail me a scan? I don't need the "applying thermal striping to the
Hand taps with centring hole?30 Sep 2007 09:56 GMT17
Does anybody know of a source for hand taps with a centring hole in
the top of the tap.  The holes are 60 degrees and used for hand
tapping using a mill or pillar drill with a centre point in the chuck
to keep the tap square to the job when tapping.  Also used on a lathe
Quiet? Try this.30 Sep 2007 09:55 GMT1
Given that you all want something to discuss, how about this? I posted it
elsewhere, but didn't get much interest.
I have always been concerned at the lack of an oil nipple in the headstock
pulley on my ML7 because lubrication here is stressed when using back gear.
Approximate weight of ML730 Sep 2007 02:09 GMT5
Does anyone know the approximate weight of an ML7 lathe? I can't
seem to find it listed on the Myford website.
I'd like to calibrate my impression of how difficult a
piece of machinery is to move to its weight!

I've just installed one of these: http://tinyurl.com/2m58dc :into the
workshop and cannot for the life of me get the spindle turning.
I've spent all day emptying the shop to get it in then trying to get
evrything back in the smaller space. I can't make head or tails of the
Collapse Gauge28 Sep 2007 13:44 GMT3
Anyone know what a 'collapse gauge' looks like in the context of
crimping hydraulic hoses? Googling produces recommendations to use
them, but no inkling of what they consist of.

Only Tamiya makes a 1/48 F-4U-1 Corsair ??27 Sep 2007 15:29 GMT43

similar to the old Revell 1/32 kit.

Q: Italeri and Trumpeter 1:72 Wellington27 Sep 2007 15:24 GMT2
I have seen sealed boxes of both these 1/72 scale kits, and wonder if
the Trumpeter one includes a detailed bomb bay with ordinance? I
cannot find any review of the 1:72 Trumpeter kit, but the 1:48 one
does have a bomb bay, although no ordinance.

I've made some models some years ago, but today I'm wanting to start
again with this hobbie :)
I'm wandering if there's any place where I can learn more about
modeling, what I recall from my ancient times, was that I had a lot of
