Metal finishes31 Jan 2008 19:26 GMT4
Anybody ever use Rust-Oleum Metalic Silver in the spray can for a
plastic model? It's nice shiny silver that I'm experimenting with on a
paint mule. It doesn't attack the plastic, either bare or with a black
undercoat. Dries quickly and it takes Future, Next I'm trying a flat

Hard to say which end is supposed to be the front on it. The gun in the
"turret" faces to the left, but so does the exhaust on the muffler.

T Nuts31 Jan 2008 11:19 GMT7
Gentlemen,
As a service\installation engineer I sometimes have build very large washing
machines in an unfinished building, being one to see if I can adapt things
for other uses I have recently found METASTRUT nuts make excellent T nuts.
Ebay raises its fees - sigh31 Jan 2008 04:52 GMT8
Got an e-mail touting their nickel discount on insertion fees starting
2/20/08. Hurray! Panning further down is the real surprise that I must say
they're rather muted on - they're increasing FV fees 3.5% (auction) and 2%
(store) for their slice of the revenue pie. New fees tier ...
Need A Hobby?31 Jan 2008 03:53 GMT4
A man needs a hobby.
I guess I'm not well-rounded. I seldom take a vacation (never, come to
think of it), and I don't spend a whole lot of time in church, though
I do not consider myself a pagan.
F-22 Raptor Model Aircraft31 Jan 2008 01:23 GMT5
The F-22 Raptor was a stealth air superiority fighter aircraft. It was
equipped for ground attack, electronic warfare, and signals
intelligence roles as well.
Warplanes.com offers the F-22 Raptor model aircraft on a 30% sale. It
Need to get some large grinding done in the south of England30 Jan 2008 15:24 GMT13
I am in the middle of re-building a large old Wadkin
planer/thicknesser and can pretty much do everything myself (even
managed to get the main rollers which are 28" x 3" onto the HLV-BK
for truing and re-cutting the serrations). However I would really
RDG v G.H.Thomas dividing head30 Jan 2008 13:18 GMT30
I've been comparing these two devices and cannot spot any real
difference other than the RDG is cheaper and ready made and the Thomas
one is a kit from Hemingway. Has anyone else got an opinion?
Supplier30 Jan 2008 11:20 GMT4
There used to be several local model shops in north Staffordshire but
in the past year or so five have closed down to my knowledge.
I want to get a small quantity of plastic angle strip.  I know that I
can buy on-line but those suppliers I have located demand quite large
Model Engineer Bound Vol's 142 to 151 - Guide price please29 Jan 2008 22:24 GMT1
Clearing a bit of shelf space, we have a number of near mint bookbound (Red
hardback) volumes of Model Engineer and would like some guidance on what we
should be asking in a sale.
Vol's 142 to 147 are full volumes, 148 to 151 are half-volumes.
Best milling machine for under £100029 Jan 2008 21:56 GMT26
I know, I know - been asked a million times before, I'm sure.
I have a basic application / requirement in mind that could be solved by
a £200 pillar drill.
But I would like to start designing my own tools (precision, and related

Sad fate for a WW II hospital ship29 Jan 2008 19:35 GMT7
I was in Baltimore, MD this evening picking up freight at the Locust
Point Marine terminal.  Next to the office where we pick up our
paperwork is this HUGE ship tied up to the pier.  I'm always
fascinated by ships, so when I had a chance I walked along side.  I
