Straightening a 2" bar29 Jan 2008 19:05 GMT16
I have a 2" diameter bar of steel 36" long with a 1" 'droop' in the
middle. This is one of the two bars that the fork lift forks slide on
on the front bucket of a JCB so it is likely to be a bit stronger /
tougher than mild steel. Is it feasable to straighten it under a

Anybody else on BT having problems with web browsing? Started early this
morning and currently I can't get into a number of sites.
I 'THINK' there service line is reporting that there is a problem, but I'd
like confirmation as I can't convince myself that it's not the Belkin box ...

I'm thinking of British Mk.IV, German A7V, French FT.17 tanks: Mack

bastard size, I have bought a tap but none of my books give a drill size for

I've just bought a secondhand Meddings Drilltru pillar drill which
looked OK and and has no detectable slop at the chuck.
When I got it home on the floor I tried it on all the speeds and

With my lathe came an old fashioned oilcan. Soldered tin, long spout,
sliding lid to allow filling, and a spring loaded button.
I gave it a clean put some oil in and pumped it but nothing happened.

I recently noted that a lathe owner was lubricating his changewheels
with "Chainsaw oil", as it was "sticky" and did not fly off the
wheels.
Any comments?

gonna do 2 days of modeling indoors and want to avoid the epoxy I
usually use due to the fumes..
can I use white glue for the plaster?  not sure how much strength it
has with plaster.....white glue takes longer to set.
