| This is probably a daft question | 22 Jan 2008 09:33 GMT | 8 |
I went to Alexandra Palace yesterday and bought a 6 inch Vertex rotary table. I want to fit the dividing plates but I can't get the handwheel off. Can someone tell me if I'm missing something obvious or should I go ahead and cobble together some sort of puller to get some force on

We seem to have a problem losing oil trucks lately. Two have been stolen off the dealers' locked grounds in the past week. The second one was found parked empty in Washington DC. Number one is still missing. Should you see an oil tanker with "Denver, Pa." on the doors, would you

| Very OT / New Computer Toy | 22 Jan 2008 04:14 GMT | 5 |
I've been doing a lot of traveling lately and didn't want to buy an expensive laptop. I was in the local Micro Center on Friday and wound up buying an ASUS EEE mini PC for $349.00. They threw in a Canon Pixma Printer / Scanner MP210 for free.

I'm going to build a Spitfire PR Mk. ID (or PR IV). Was this mark equipped with the Mk. 1 early oill filter housing, or the filter housing from a Mk. V? My references notes that the early marks of recce Spitfires often were

I know 3.3 mm is the preferred drilling for a 4 mm tap, but in practice is 3.5 mm OK? My supplier only stocks "standard" taps (no starters or bottomers)

| Sievert "Cyclone" torch burners | 20 Jan 2008 00:10 GMT | 7 |
Has anyone here got experience of the Sievert "Cyclone" propane torch burners? They are the ones which apparently produce a rotating flame which completely surrounds a pipe joint when soldering or brazing. I'm wondering about buying one, but it would be good to know people's

| Hawk Missile Battery: Scale? | 19 Jan 2008 23:32 GMT | 8 |
I reckon this one is for Al. I have a Hawk Missile Battery in a Revell History Makers Box. The box says 1/32. On eBay I see Hawk Missile Batteries and the tracked and helicopter missile transporters in Life Like as 1/40 and Renwal as 1/32. Were there two different molds? Which do ...

| Disaster strikes | 19 Jan 2008 22:45 GMT | 1 |
Probably my fault for not thinking, maybe not. Got my hands on some Mig products thinner for washes whilst browsing in Modelzone Manchester on Monday whilst the SWMBO was on a business trip. Sounded great reading the label. Mixed it up with some Mig pigments "Industrial City ...

| Hardite info? | 19 Jan 2008 22:01 GMT | 31 |
I found a half-tin of Hardite case hardening powder. The tin's outer is partly rusted, and any instructions that might have been on it are not readable. Is there some place where I can find instructions on how to use it?
