Hi all, trying to up the number of non-noise posts in newsgroups <g>
I bought the Italeri 1/72 scale Do-217 J1/J2 Nachtjäger (Kit No. 1266)
a few days ago here in Tokyo, for 1680 JPY, which is pretty good.
However, when I opened up the kit, I was very surprised and somewhat
Lindberg HMS Hood = Ironic Find04 Feb 2008 05:41 GMT20
I was given a Lindberg 1/400 scale kit of the HMS Hood. I have yet to
find a part in this kit that looks like any thing like any thing on
the real HMS Hood did.
I was just looking tonight on the web for any reviews etcetera about
Removing small roll pins04 Feb 2008 04:04 GMT10
I need to remove some small roll pins (1/16" and 3/32") and am unable to
think of a simple, non-brutal, method
So far I have failed to remove a 3/32" pin with punch and hammer but
this may be due to my reluctance to use too much brute force. I have not
American Humour03 Feb 2008 18:36 GMT9
James,
This came in an e-mail from America, wherever that is.  I don't know if
you'll find it amusing but I thought I'd pass it on.

Looking for etched metal specimens (or possibly conc. nitric acid)03 Feb 2008 13:32 GMT34
I'm looking for a few etched specimens of common metals to photograph
under a microscope. Preferably including one or two which show a
microstructure which is visually pretty simple. Examples I'd be
interested in obtaining include cold rolled low carbon steel, normalised

Goyim are mentally inferior to Jews and can’t run their nations
properly.  For their sake and ours, we need to abolish their

Ahh need some fat tahrs02 Feb 2008 23:52 GMT2
I'm looking for some fat tires.  I have a JDF six-wheel armored vehicle I
plan to thrash and turn rather futuristic, and the original wheels and
tires aren't what I have in mind.  I bought a Jurassic Park monster truck
to rob those (anyone need the rest of the kit?), but I still ...
Re: OT: Red Arrows Banned from 2012 Olympics?02 Feb 2008 20:14 GMT2
According to the "London 2012" web site,
"London 2012 has responded to reports that the Red Arrows have been banned
from the Opening Ceremony of the Games, describing the rumours as 'utter
nonsense'.

How hard is "Hardened"01 Feb 2008 23:00 GMT16
I recently bought a Quick Change Toolpost with 4 holders. Advertised
as "Hardened and Ground". Within days there were dings all over the
toolholder. I find that I can relatively easily file chamfers on the
block or the toolholders. Also when you analyse the manufacture it is
Westbury boring head01 Feb 2008 21:38 GMT12
Does anyone have a picture of Edgar Westbury's boring / facing head, please ?
Better still, does it appear in any of his lathe books ?
I have the head, but am missing the automatic advance striker. I can make
a guess at it but it would be interesting to see the original.
1/32" edge strips01 Feb 2008 19:58 GMT6
I am looking for a source for edge strips to cover the edge of a 1/32"
thick glass slide, made of machinable plastic, preferentially acrylic
or polycarbonate. I currently machine the strips on a Bridgeport,
which is very inefficient since I need ~100 of these things.
