My Academy CH53 is on of those jinx kits where everything seems to go wrong. At least the latest episode was self inflicted. Spent quite some time masking off the transparent nose using tamiya tape, a new no.11 blade and a bright light to see whare I was going. Deceptively tricky ...

My small bench lathe (an Axminster BV20) has zeroing dials on the feeds. Most are Ok, except the one on the compound which was always very stiff. On examination, it looks fairly standard construction - a steel 'hub'

I believe I read sometime ago a tip I think in FSM where for better cleaning after "normal" cleaning he or she placed the brushes for a while in acetone, and that it took away the residue. I clean normally with thinner but there is always some residue. ANy

Got mine; first impressions are very clean moulding, delicate surface detail, dry fit of major items seems ok. AND, enough room for the nose wieght!
