So I'm down at the tank barn painting grousers for our M5A1s Tuesday night. As I'm painting, I'm thinking, man this paint looks really good, best OD I've ever seen. I look at the can and realize it says 1944 Olive Drab US. Now I'm thinking... Hmmmm...

| sonic/laser measure | 04 Apr 2008 23:08 GMT | 16 |
I cut many varying lengths, to a bar stop, on a chop saw. I was wondering if a sonic or laser measure with some sort of digital readout could be incorporated in the bar stop to give a quick and accurate distance measure from the blade. Lengths cut vary from 500mm to 1500mm, ...

| This is the bit that I like the best | 03 Apr 2008 22:02 GMT | 8 |
I'm currently building a Luftwaffe RF-4E and a USAF F-15A, both in 1/72 and both from the Hasegawa kits. The F-15A is in overall Air Superiority Blue. I once wondered whether that would be a suitable subject for a "model in a weekend". Now I have to say, no way! There are so ...

The motor has broken on our Clarke lathe so I've been looking for a replacement. The switch broke too and this it proving difficult to replace. The systems runs a 3/4 hp with reverse and a 16mm drive shaft. I can source a 3/4 hp with 19mm drive shaft and reversing starter at

| On the off-chance | 02 Apr 2008 11:53 GMT | 2 |
Anyone got a half-decent small-ish drill press they're looking to move on? Doesn't have to have a (working) motor, I've got motors. Large-ish bench-mounted, probably, something with a throat depth at least 15". I'd also consider a floor-standing one if not too large.

| Slot drill / End mill with radiused tip | 01 Apr 2008 23:52 GMT | 10 |
I want to make some parts with slots that have a filleted bottom rather than a 90 degree join (IYSWIM) so I wondered if there is such a thing as a slot drill or end mill with the very tips of the edges chamfered or radiused to a couple of millimeters. Kind of like a flat ...
