I've got a Warco VMC and the head on this tilts and swivels.  I can understand
the use of the head being able to tilt (left and right) but what earthly use is
it for it to be able to swivel around on its column ?

I appreciate this is not a post about model engineering but ...
The Bowden cable that links my car window to the "capstan" motor has
corroded and snapped.  Renault want around £200 for the motor + pulleys +
wire assembly.

My Denford Viceroy has a link belt drive from countershaft to layshaft
(similar to Boxford). Is their a preferred direction of rotation for

It seized up on me this morning, now it won't open despite rebooting

I've found that with my Cowells dividing head, I need to clamp the
spindle every time I take a cut to get good results (I'm making clock
wheels) - there's a nut provided for exactly that purpose. I guess
this is normal  (it's a feature I've seen on other dividing heads and

Okay, the History channel Enterprise 360 has got to me, and caused me
to pull of the shelf my unbuilt kit and think about starting it! I am
looking for a photoetch detail set for it.  So far my search has
