| Thanks Guys...Its Done | 02 May 2008 19:30 GMT | 13 |
Finally, I've finished my attempt at building Malcolm Stride's Nemett15S. Never really made anything significant before, but Malcolm's article was that detailed I thought it was worth a shot. It fired up and ran tonight a bit of fiddling left to do with the carb, but it works ...

| Resin Daedelus model. | 02 May 2008 16:28 GMT | 4 |
I posted this question at the scalemodeling.mybb3.org site, but as they're gone (or appear to be), I'll post it here as well. Last week I won a copy of the USS Daedelus starship on ePay and just received it. It's well cast, three pieces (hull and two nacells/mount

| Drive pin clearance | 02 May 2008 14:55 GMT | 3 |
Not a model though fairly small. A 2hp 1000rpm engine-driven direct-coupled genset. The flywheel and dynamo drive flange each have pins (3/4" and 1 1/4" respectively) bolted to them which engage in holes in the other and there is 1/4" leather sandwiched between the flanges.

In the interest of keeping the neighbours sweet I am wondering how best to reduce the humming noise from my mill and lathe, both of which have cabinet mounted single-phase motors. Both have the motor bolted to large steel plates with a pivot at one end which is in turn bolted

| quick question | 01 May 2008 21:17 GMT | 10 |
What's a typical cutting speed for (assumed) mild steel, using an HSS tool? I've got some steel van wheels on which I need to put chamfers on the holes. I've got a 90 degree 6-flute cutter, but I'm wondering what speed I can run it. The drill which will be easiest to use only goes ...

| New Lathe question | 01 May 2008 09:30 GMT | 41 |
I an interested in getting into Model Engineering and looking at my first "home lathe". I have a reasonable budget, but Myford is out of the question. I did an engineering apprenticeship back in the early 1980's and spent a

There's a new moderated board that might be of interest. It's categorize but not genre specific, so anyone can find something of interest. It' layout is loosely based on StarshipModeler (with their blessing). I thin it's worth a look, then we can let the pinhead spammers have RMS ...
