Free stuff31 Jul 2008 21:32 GMT3
I have the following stuff available free:
* Calor propane blowlamp, with a spare nozzle. Looks a bit beat, but I
don't see any reason why it wouldn't function.
* 1.5 kW at 1425 rpm three phase Brook Crompton motor. Needs new

Heidenhain DRO scale faulty31 Jul 2008 11:12 GMT3
I wonder if anyone has a solution to a DRO not working on the X axis of a
Bridgeport. Its not the readout, swapped X and Y plugs and the X axis
readout then functions, albeit its reading the Y axis.
I took the scale off the machine, dismantled it, cleaned the glass scale on

C-47 Interior color references30 Jul 2008 05:38 GMT10
Any online references to the correct interior color of WWII American C-47's?
The new Trumpeter kit calls it "sky", but I was thinking more along the
lines of bronze green, and kind of a grey/metallic for the areas with
quilted insulation.
[Sci-Fi] I'm back in business!30 Jul 2008 02:24 GMT3
Well, after undergoing far too many surgeries and experiencing way too many
days "under the weather", I'm back in business, for any who are interested.
I make accurization kits for the Millennium Falcon, and also have a few
Battle Droid blasters to go with the model kits put out a ...

Paper/Card Models29 Jul 2008 16:02 GMT12
Anyone out there build paper/card models?  I have a few questions
regarding types of glues to use.  I am working on a model of King
Ludwig II's Neuschwanstein Castle that I downloaded from the internet,
and will be working on a couple of NASCAR cars that I also found on
Inverter Tig Welders29 Jul 2008 15:11 GMT9
I need to weld some thin mild steel and find that my Mig is a bit
crude and vicious on mild steel this thin. I'm wondering if one of the
modern DC Tig inverter welders would be better for thin mild steel. Of
course a full AC/DC Tig would be nice for versatility but they never
jenny reissue!28 Jul 2008 19:58 GMT16
lindberg has release their jn-4 kit. typically lindberg sparse in the cockpit,
the outside is very well done and it isn't hard to scratch up some guts. they
are very easy to rig, you can lay out a simple pattern, drill some holes and
simply sew the rigging together. then you just ...
Aluminium round or tube-3/1628 Jul 2008 19:09 GMT7

most of the model metal suppliers are having problems with their

Thrust washer material?28 Jul 2008 16:06 GMT9
I'm needing to make a new thrust washer for the rotor drive sprocket on an
old Howard 300 rotovator, but I'm not sure what material it's made of.
Initially I thought it looked like copper, but after having to heat the
bearing sleeve next to it, it now looks a more bronze colour.
How Things Work?27 Jul 2008 11:52 GMT19
I am thinking of using a discarded (good) electric controller from an
electric blanket as a controller for a nichrome wire foam cutter.  Can
anyone gibve me a general idea how electric blankets work.  Pointed in
the right direction I can use a multimeter to check out the wiring and
