| Hello Everyone | 22 Feb 2009 08:48 GMT | 11 |
Hello all. I've been away from this group for some time, but have just stumbled onto google groups offering free newsgroup access. Having recently move I feel a bit of an interloper here, as I don't live in the UK any more. But I hope you won't hold that against me.

| Interesting electric motors | 22 Feb 2009 08:44 GMT | 3 |
Bob's post the other day got me thinking. I'm really interested in early electric motors. Well, anything up to the 1960s. Solid, well built motors. I fancy making an addition to my collection. I'd like to find a repulsion motor, but I've never seen one in the UK.

| FSN article? | 22 Feb 2009 03:49 GMT | 12 |
A while ago FSM had an article about weathering using salt and other kitchen items under paint to simulate chipping and wear. I want to try this out but can't remember to save my life the name of the article or issue. I've tried searching the FSM site but salt doesn't find ...

| Another FSM article | 22 Feb 2009 01:20 GMT | 10 |

| Easily cutting metric lens threads on an inch lathe | 21 Feb 2009 10:31 GMT | 7 |
Sorry for the long subject line folks, Anyway, it seems that camera lens threads are all, or mostly all, 75mm pitch. Cutting metric threads on an inch lathe is of course a hassle. 34 TPI would be close enough but my gearbox doesn't have a 34

Sorry to crosspost, but I got no reply from the other group. Helllo, I am looking for a UK based engineer who can make a pair of rollers for a hand swaging machine. The rollers need to put a 12mm I/D semi-circle into flat either 0.6mm or 0.8mm thick Alumnium sheet. The

I am looking for a source of extra sticky grease. This is for the epicyclic gearbox on my Dore Westbury mill. I asked the same question on this group a while back, and one suggestion was Red n Tacky grease. I managed to get some of this, and

Hi, does anyone know of a good source of Operation Torch decals? (the one with the yellow around the national insignia) All the hits on Google seem to be for out of production sheets. I'll keep my fingers crossed that someone out there knows if any are still

| Elliott Milmor or Omnimil1250 manual? | 19 Feb 2009 19:23 GMT | 3 |
We got the turret/overarm/head onto my machine this afternoon, I'd cut the cable when separating the machine for loading so I was playing about with the controls with no power, found that I'd brought down the quill & it wouldn't return.

| Milling a Tree - Somewhat OT, but Engineering-ish | 19 Feb 2009 09:54 GMT | 25 |
I would be interested to hear if anyone has any bright ideas for milling a tree into boards. In the field adjacent to my parents house there is a dead oak tree from which I have gradually removed all the minor branches for firewood over this winter.
