| Lapping compound option | 11 Feb 2009 17:54 GMT | 2 |
I am building a "Coffee Cup Stirling" to Jan Ridders design. Needed to lap the work barrel. Could not find the tin of "fine" lapping compound that I know I have somewhere! In the kitchen I found a tin of "Astonish" a bit dried out. Scraped

| A small job for someone? | 11 Feb 2009 17:21 GMT | 1 |
Somewhere in the house I've got lots of new grub screws. I can see that I could employ them to make home-made brass shaft couplers for fractional motors and stuff. If I had my own lathe I'd simply drill brass rod for the shaft, and drill and tap for the grub screws.

| Parting Off Tips | 11 Feb 2009 16:26 GMT | 9 |
Having purchased a blade from the nice lady in Chesterfield, I've lost her name and contact details for re-ordering tips. I've even travelled over to her home, found no-one at home and left a note for her in the door - all to no avail

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/richards_internet/TEMPORARY/DCMOTOR.html I'm going to lengthen the 1/4 inch diameter shaft by 80mm. It's 11mm long at the moment. I can use brass coupling, or the 1/4" extention shaft could be welded. How

I've just about got my new (to me) old round top Student ship shape and Bristol fashion with a nice quick change tool post and some tooling from J&L. I was wondering if a coolant pump would be a good idea, all the original

| Dormer 108 Mk2 Drill Grinder | 09 Feb 2009 08:15 GMT | 6 |
I recently won a Dormer 108 Mk2 Drill grinder on eBay, which seems a nice capable machine, and if the seller had strapped it properly to a pallet for transport would have been an asset to the workshop. In fact he didn't, it slipped out of the pallet wrap that was all that held

Does anyone know where I might be able to purchase (in the UK) 'sensible' lengths Fenner "PowerTwist SuperGrip Top" or maybe "PowerTwist Friction Top" belting in B or C section ? I need around 1.5m (tbc) and all I've been able to find so far is Fenner themselves

Hey I am watching SuperBridge by Nova on DVD. Just saw a clip of a model water basin they used to iterate designs. Besides bridges, there were a couple of tugs/barges cruising by. Looks like fun. The models looked off the shelf.
