I have been trying to make railings from 1mm and 2mm brass but cannot get the joints soldered. I have tried different solders and different irons. Would a gas flame gun be easier?

If you look at Terry Ashley's (who ran PMMS) blog, http://tinyurl.com/ yhowrj3, he suggests that the site was "stolen" and the postings on Rapidshare are by those responsible. Therefore it's possible that this was done by people with little technical knowledge, hence the issues

Do we ever hear from the guys who designed the kits? Do we ever hear tales of what it was like to take an airplane or tank (or whatever!) design and covert it to a plastic kit? So far, I've never read anything by anyone who worked for any company ... no tales of how

I am retired and wish to get into model making. I have been a Welding Engineer all my working life ( class one certificated welder).. Although I have "had a go" at most machine tools I have never been trained in the Machine Shop just instruction from various operators.
