| Airfix Kit decals - How are they really? | 30 Aug 2008 01:10 GMT | 10 |
I am about to start on the AIRFIX 1/48 DH Mosquito B XVI/PR XVI. This is the retooled kit that came out a few years ago which includes the revised wing/fuselage and cowlings for the 2 stage Merlin. I've searched and I cannot find any suitable decals for this

| Chinese Whitworth? | 29 Aug 2008 21:59 GMT | 13 |
I have a Clark CMD1225 mill/drill which is, I believe, a ZX25 clone made in Taiwan. Their current version is the CMD1225C which, I'm told, is made in China.

| dampening grease | 28 Aug 2008 22:12 GMT | 8 |
US company Nye sells dampening gells, for thick prices. The same kind of stuff you find in old binoculars (to get the expensive feeling on cheaper models). This is a very sticky, brownish grease. Is there any affordable alternative or substitute?

| Shopping stuff | 28 Aug 2008 15:05 GMT | 43 |
I recently did some shopping at www.technobots.co.uk - ordered a lot of mixed small parts on Sunday, got an email Monday telling me that it had been packed, arrived today, Tuesday, with every part and exactly as ordered. Just a quick recommendation.

| Trumpeter Lightning prices | 28 Aug 2008 03:46 GMT | 4 |
Trumpeter's stuff always seems to be very expensive for what is in the box. Thankfully that doesn't seem to be the case for their forthcoming EE Lightnings. Hannants are offering them for seventeen quid! Okay, twelve quid would have been ideal, but I was expecting twenty-five...

| Telescopic bore micrometer? | 27 Aug 2008 18:47 GMT | 6 |
This is something that has intrigued me for a while, as I'm sure I used them at college for measuring engine cylinder bores, but have never came across them since and I'm beginning to question my memory. They were a micrometer like a Telescopic gauge, but with a micrometer head

I;m working on an AFV Club Stryker and am at the point of closing her up...meaning, it's time to install the vision blocks. I've been experimenting painting this over that on old clear sprue, but don't like any of the results. A quick search on the FSM web site turned up

| RFI: US Source for Airfix HO Scale Astronauts set | 27 Aug 2008 08:30 GMT | 14 |
...I'm x-posting this to rec.models.scale as well as to sci.space.history. I've gotten a couple of RFIs from some OMBloggers as to whether or not Airfix still makes the HO-scale Astronauts set that was released around the A11 mission. For those not familiar with

| Korean War Naval Aircraft blue | 27 Aug 2008 07:53 GMT | 4 |
Is there a single "straight out of the pot" color for late-WW2/Korean War era US naval aircraft? I've used a can of now oop Tamiya AS-8 (Spray) Navy Blue which seems spot on. However, for touch-ups and future projects (brush and airbrush) It'd be nice not to have to mix
