How do I turn the headlight off?30 Sep 2003 12:09 GMT6
I want to turn the headlight off on an N scale loco.  Can I just take the
body shell off and look for two wires going to the headlight and cut em?
Another MR ad30 Sep 2003 08:37 GMT8
I've been waiting for someone to comment about the Bachman ad on page 29
of the October MR.  Unless I missed it, no one has.
They're touting their new Spectrum ten-wheeler.  According to the ad,
it's "Based on a catalog-standard Baldwin built in the early nineteenth
Athearn P42 defective?30 Sep 2003 04:23 GMT7
I just got an Athearn RTR AMD 103 (P42 Genesis) locomotive -- brand new.
I notice that it doesn't stop immediately if the power is cut -- it rolls a bit
then stops.  The faster it goes the longer it takes to stop unless I switch to
reverse.  Is this normal?  Is it defective?

Stick-on coach sides29 Sep 2003 17:13 GMT4
25 years ago, I used some PC Models stick-on plastic sides to convert old
Triang Hornby Mk1 coaches to blue-grey - with some additional vehicles
Triang didn't make. Now, of course, I want to change them back to Maroon.

how do seam locomotives run?29 Sep 2003 16:28 GMT8
I remember reading a book on how steam engines worked more than 60
years ago.
I must confess the details I read about then have escaped me.
I'd appreciate your referring me to a book which describes, explains,
Union Pacific  (official liscensed product)29 Sep 2003 13:24 GMT1
I don't know for sure that this is in fact happening, but after
reading all the messages on the subject, it sure seems like it could
be.
Many years ago the subject came up in MR. Another railroad wanted
Major Wreck29 Sep 2003 12:18 GMT3
Just had a horrible experience. Clan Line pulling three of the new Hornby
Pullmans just fell 4 feet to the concrete floor of the basement. This has
never happened before with any combination of Locos and coaches or wagons.
It fell from the fiddle yard which is approached by 2nd ...

Has this n.g died or what?29 Sep 2003 03:39 GMT70
The header says it all.
This n.g used to be really active and interesting.  Now it's dead.
Guess we can thank the ranting and raving political bunch for that.  They
must have driven everyone away.  :-(

I'm currently having (another) go at building a small N scale layout. Last
time i got a bit adventurous and tried to start out too big. So i'm keeping
the layout small. But its come time to buy a loco.
Any suggestions? I need one that will handle tight radii and runs well. I
