I just getting settled into a new desk in a new office, organizing my pens and pencils, and I'd like something other than a mug on the desk to hold them. And I got to thinking - what have I got from the hobby that I can adapt? an old box car? water tower? I model in HO, but ideas ...

Having been at Norwich on Monday for the press launch of the aforementioned loco the numbers should both be at no.1 end but unfortunately have been placed at opposite corners [opposite way round to rail blue and sector livery locos].

| Throttle Questions | 08 Oct 2003 21:23 GMT | 2 |
I run LGB trains, and I am considering building a pulse-width modulation throttle to enable better low speed control (I think it would be a fun project to build a nice custom throttle). I have read on a few websites that some motors (such as those in LGB

| Point electrics | 08 Oct 2003 21:09 GMT | 4 |
I've got a Marcway point with continuous blade and live frog. The problem is that the two innermost of rails of the two diverging tracks, which are joined together at the frog, have lost electrical connection with the blades and hence with input feed (it's a mechanical

| Hornby Newbie Post 2 | 08 Oct 2003 19:50 GMT | 22 |
Ladies & Gentlemen, you are railway modellers - and I am trying to model a railway. Responses (from a couple of you) to my newbie question below have been pretty unhelpful. Is there anyone out there, without black shades, and a number plate styled 'Hor(b)ny 1' - and huge speakers ...

| break in curved track | 08 Oct 2003 18:29 GMT | 4 |
I have built the baseboard and am now laying track. Peco Streamline OO code 100. There is a lifting flap, which means two breaks in the track. At the (raised!) hinged end of the flap the track is straight until it encounters the flap. So no problem with the track break, I just make ...

| Hornby Newbie Questions | 08 Oct 2003 17:57 GMT | 31 |
I'm new to model railways, but I'm building a layout for my small son (actually it's for me - because he is only 2, but no-one has twigged yet.) I'm having terrible problems with Hornby rolling stock - the trucks/carriages are so lightweight, and the centre of gravity seems too ...

I am currently building G scale turnouts for myself and others and would like to round out my offerings with the local flextrack. There is a group that makes "Austrack, Oztrack" in Victoria I think. I only require the sleepers as I have a supplier of the rail.
