Mamod Steam Loco gauge question 06 Oct 2003 18:51 GMT2
Although I've spent a few weeks reading posts I'm pretty new to this
newsgroup, so apologies in advance if I've posted off charter.
Does anyone know if the Mamod steam engines
(http://www.mamodspares.co.uk/mamod_o_gauge_rail_track.htm) which are
HORTON06 Oct 2003 18:47 GMT2
The modern image modellers may be interested that Horton, the Beckenham
& West Wickham MRC 'OO' layout, will be at the Maidstone exhibition on
18 & 19 October.  Computer operated points and signals and now scenicked
270 degrees.  They haven't told me the location yet, I'm merely the
Hornby live steam at STEAM06 Oct 2003 17:10 GMT9
Yesterday I went to Rail GWR Steam Convention 2003 at the STEAM museum
Swindon - excellent. Hornby were demonstrating the new 4mm steam powered
A4 model. It's quite an impressive engineering achievement, but the
restrictions due to having the control of the heating of the water by

Web pages updated06 Oct 2003 04:41 GMT1
Just a quick note - the "Stuff" pages on www.arizonarails.com have been
updated after a long summer of too many other things to do... follow the
link on the navigation bar, "Stuff for sale" to find some HO and N items,
and a bunch of different magazines, books, and even a few videos ...
Eight years old...06 Oct 2003 02:11 GMT2
Thanks so much to all for the past eight years that Papas Trains has been in
existance. What started out as only helping a few friends with their DCC
installations has now grown to having customers in fourteen states plus the UK
and Canada.
Cleaning old engine shells, hints??06 Oct 2003 00:21 GMT5
Our club has a number of engines that have been on the layout for years. The
accumulated dust and dirt is a distraction if you are looking close (or
taking a picture). Are there suggestions for how to clean when you have
little idea of paint types, decal solvents, etc that were used ...
IHC Mogul05 Oct 2003 22:14 GMT2
OK, I give up.  According to the review in MR when this 2-6-0 came out,
its minimum speed on straight DC was 5smph.  I've got 2 of them that I'd
never used and neither one will do less than 10smph without cogging.
Pulse doesn't help much if at all.  I'm running with an MRC Tech ...
Wanted: Non-electric Loco05 Oct 2003 20:12 GMT2
I am looking for ideas here. I have an OO garden railway, about 50m long,
which starts and ends in the garden shed.
I think it would be useful to have a non-electric loco, to run around a few
times before I power up. The obvious uses would be cleaning and drying the

Paint mix to simulate steel05 Oct 2003 15:50 GMT16
I'm looking for ideas of paint mixes to simulate new steel, both plain and
galvanized.  They would be used for a flatcar load and boxcar roofs, viewed
from normal distance.  I typically use Modelflex paint, but am open to all
suggestions.

Branchline "Blueprint Series"05 Oct 2003 01:38 GMT16
Hey Folks,
I have not seen or handled a Branchline "Blueprint Series" car.
Could someone please comment on their overall quality [perhaps comparing
them to Kadee and/or InterMountain cars]. Also, is the kit fairly
Bachman Mk2 - suggestion04 Oct 2003 23:21 GMT11
With Bachman having made some superb Mk1s, are there any plans to follow
this up with Mk2s? Obviously a large number were made and I was never really
convinced with the ones that Hornby and Lima made.
