Often in MR, the layout plans call for specific switches for a given point
on the layout.  I imagine it's not important to have the specific brand they
suggest - but why do they specify an Atlas turnout at one point, then a Roco
or Walthers switch somewhere else?

I'm looking for scale drawings and references for track tamping machines
operated on the british railway system. I don't have an extensive range of
magazine back issues as I've only recently returned to the hobby, so I would
be especially grateful to anyone who can offer scanned ...

Has anyone got the TRIX BIG BOY? I hear they run fantastic. There is one at the
local hobby store here (4013) and the price has been reduced again to $489.00.

Hey Folks,
I could certainly use some assistance, advice, and/or suggestions on a
much needed fix to a number of our Atlas [HO Scale] cars. We have a
dozen of their short open hopper cars and two of their older PS2 covered

I'm looking for a good soldering station for installing
decoders in my N-scale locos.
I'm currently considering the Weller WLC-100; does anyone know if the
soldering tip will be fine enough?
