| HO gauge turntables | 29 Oct 2003 05:20 GMT | 14 |
What are the best options for building and reliable operation for turntables around 120' in length for HO scale. I have heard of Browser and Diamond Scale but really don't know much about them. Are there others? I saw in the current MR where Walthers is coming out

| dumb loco question | 29 Oct 2003 03:06 GMT | 42 |
Why won't the wheels of an n scale loco turn freely when it is not being run? It seems like you should be able to pick it up and turn the wheels with your finger but you cant. How come?

| Taking the bodyshell off a Lima 66 | 29 Oct 2003 01:26 GMT | 1 |
Does anyone know how to do this? There doesn't seem to be any obvious way to pop the bodyshell off, and I'd rather not break my newest loco trying to get it open (needs one of the cab windows pushing back in place). --

| choosing N scale track | 28 Oct 2003 21:22 GMT | 8 |
I'm planning an N scale layout, and want this one to look and perform better than the one I had in my financially challenged teenage years. All I had to work with then was Atlas code 80 track and switches. This time, I'm most likely going with code 55 track.

| About to start a layout | 28 Oct 2003 18:04 GMT | 8 |
I've just finished boarding and panelling my loft, which gives me a lovely big clean space to build that layout I've always promised myself. I was born in Welwyn Garden City and I remember my first primary school being within sight of Digswell Viaduct, and seeing the Flying Scotsman

Do Lionel & MTH Sound Units have volume controls? I ask because our club hosted a small show on the weekend, and several of our members ran such equipment. The rest are into an HO scale modular layout. The sound from both the large scale diesels and steam engines was VERY

| Isolating gaps in a curve | 28 Oct 2003 11:13 GMT | 4 |
Any suggestions on what is the best method for creating and holding an isolating gap in both rails on a curve in N track? I have tried the obvious way of using insulating joiners, but the track tends not to want to curve. Not surprisingly, the plastic joiners are not rigid enough to ...

| Lima Freightliner class 66 | 28 Oct 2003 11:06 GMT | 8 |
This loco (six months old) refuses to run smoothly and stops and starts needing frequent pushes to make it move. The wheels, pickups and brushes don't seem unduly dirty (without giving it a full stripdown) is this a common problem? It's never been the quietest or smoothest of runner ...

| Online Train Shop Recommendations? | 28 Oct 2003 05:34 GMT | 5 |
Hi all, I've been away from model railroading for some years, and have been trying to figure out how to get back into it. I'm planning on getting back slowly, since I don't really have room for a decent size layout in my current abode, but would like to start acquiring equipment ...
