| where should a beginner start? | 26 Oct 2003 13:57 GMT | 12 |
I've always been interested in trains and model railroading and would like to get started. For some reason, HO scale has always caught my eye. I'd love to start with a simple layout, but I don't have the room at this time. (I will be buying a house next year.)

| Langley Metal figures | 26 Oct 2003 03:47 GMT | 1 |
I have just received my first delivery of some Langley figures and farm machinery. I confess to being a bit overwhelmed as I have never attempted cast metal stuff before. Any hints? How to solder? Paint first or not? What are the best paints? Anything else.

| Using cardboard and styrene | 25 Oct 2003 06:45 GMT | 6 |
Hey all... I'm toying with the idea of scratchbuilding 'flat sided' cars from 600 or 400 gsm card rather than styrene and using styrene strips to detail.

| DCC question | 24 Oct 2003 21:48 GMT | 6 |
If I get DCC locos, does that mean that I don't have to worry so much about a lot of wiring connections on a big layout, because the DCC keeps the thing running the same speed no matter how far it is from a feeder track?

| Walthers 90' HO Turntable | 24 Oct 2003 19:00 GMT | 6 |
I just completed the assembly of a Walthers 90' HO turntable. Overall I am satisfied with the turntable, but it must be assembled carefully. Except for the handrails (which have nothing to do with the operation) all parts have alignment pins. You must make certain that all the ...

| Newbie Questions | 24 Oct 2003 18:19 GMT | 2 |
Hi. I'm putting in a shelf RR in my kid's room, and need some advice. I was going to put in the G-gauge Aristo 2-8-2 Mikado but discovered it needs an 8-ft. diameter curve! Room is ~10 x 11'. So, now I'm looking at O-gauge. The passenger cars I like need 0-42 curve, which I ...
