where should a beginner start?26 Oct 2003 13:57 GMT12
I've always been interested in trains and model railroading and would
like to get started.  For some reason, HO scale has always caught my
eye.  I'd love to start with a simple layout, but I don't have the
room at this time.  (I will be buying a house next year.)
measuring track curvature.26 Oct 2003 08:41 GMT14
Is track radius measured from the track centerline or from somewhre else?
A & B Class picture26 Oct 2003 08:29 GMT1
I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I'm after some pictures of the
A and B Class diesels of the Victorian Railways. I'm modeling both in HO and
5" Gauge.
Thanks in advance
Langley Metal figures26 Oct 2003 03:47 GMT1
I have just received my first delivery of some Langley figures and farm
machinery. I confess to being a bit overwhelmed as I have never attempted
cast metal stuff before. Any hints? How to solder? Paint first or not? What
are the best paints? Anything else.
Indianapolis25 Oct 2003 21:57 GMT2
We will be returning this year to White River Gardens with an inter-active O
Scale 3-rail layout.  Various stations around the layout allow for kids(and
adults) to operate accessories. Held in conjunction with The Indiana Railroad
Co., the layout will be expanded this year to add ...
Decal questions25 Oct 2003 19:34 GMT11
OK, guys, I've tried to pay attention in class, but I can't remember 'em all.
I'm trying to make my own decals. I have the artwork all worked out. I've
printed them on paper and they work fine. When I put them on decal paper it all
goes to well, heck, I guess. It's not quite hellish ...

Using cardboard and styrene25 Oct 2003 06:45 GMT6
Hey all...
I'm toying with the idea of scratchbuilding 'flat sided' cars from 600
or 400 gsm card rather than styrene and using styrene strips to
detail.

DCC question24 Oct 2003 21:48 GMT6
If I get DCC locos, does that mean that I don't have to worry so much about
a lot of wiring connections on a big layout, because the DCC keeps the thing
running the same speed no matter how far it is from a feeder track?
Walthers 90' HO Turntable24 Oct 2003 19:00 GMT6
I just completed the assembly of a Walthers 90' HO turntable.  Overall I am
satisfied with the turntable, but it must be assembled carefully.  Except
for the handrails (which have nothing to do with the operation) all parts
have alignment pins.  You must make certain that all the ...
Newbie Questions24 Oct 2003 18:19 GMT2
Hi.  I'm putting in a shelf RR in my kid's room, and need some advice.  I was
going to put in the G-gauge Aristo 2-8-2 Mikado but discovered it needs an
8-ft. diameter curve!  Room is ~10 x 11'.  So, now I'm looking at O-gauge.  The
passenger cars I like need 0-42 curve, which I ...
Advice on gauging/widths of OO models24 Oct 2003 15:08 GMT62
Can anyone offer any advice on widths of OO ready to run stock?
I'm currently track laying and have got to the station end and I am using a
Lima Mk1 coach as a reference for the platform edges.
Are there any "wider" models than this? On my wish list is a Bachmann Crab
