Hornby tender-drive loco problem21 Oct 2003 17:16 GMT4
We have a 2003 Hornby Flying Scotsman.  When we put it on the track
and power up, it moves sometimes no distance, sometimes up to six
inches, then the controller shuts down.
That sounds to me like a short but I can't see any evidence of where
Bachmann Spectrum "Doodlebug"21 Oct 2003 13:39 GMT12
Hey Folks,
Could you please offer a quick opinion on the Bachmann Spectrum
"Doodlebug" with regards to its running capability and its pulling
performance.
GMD-1 Switcher21 Oct 2003 07:07 GMT22
I would like to find a couple of these for my layout.
Preferably in Canadian National, yet I am not
afraid to attack them with the air brush......

National Orange Sunkist Packing House21 Oct 2003 03:09 GMT2
Yesteryear Models is releasing kits for HO and N scale versions of the
National Orange Sunkist packing house (see November 2003 Model Railroader,
page 13). The landmark packing house stood in Riverside, CA from 1898 until
2001 when it burned down.  It was served on the west side by ...
Most useful tools21 Oct 2003 01:54 GMT24
Not sure if it's been done before but I was wondering what the team consider
to be their most useful tools (for railway modelling), I'll start off  with
the stuff I use the most ...
1. Good knifes in the main I use X-Acto knifes with selection of blades with

Sealant?20 Oct 2003 23:14 GMT2
okay, so I just weathered a LifeLike SD7 using an airbrush and a number of
Floquil acrylics.
Ran it yesterday at a show. Unfortunately, the thin coats of paint rub
easily off of the acetal plastic handrails and truck sideframes, leaving
Weathering & Details20 Oct 2003 21:16 GMT4
Does anybody know of any good guides (web or book) for weathering and super
detailing diesel locos (mostly Lima)

Monogram Snap-tite20 Oct 2003 15:32 GMT4
I've never actually seen one of these, but they're available on e-bay. If one
cleans up the parts and perhaps does a little weathering, are the Hudson and
Big Boy capable of looking good?
Athearn vs. Lifelike axle gears?20 Oct 2003 15:13 GMT7
I want to replace the 4 axle gears in my Proto 2000 BL-2 because they
cracked.  Lifelike will send me new ones if I send them the old ones.
But has the quality of Lifelike's gears improved?  Or should I spend
out of pocket for Athearn?  Are Athearn gears any better?  Now they
Size of Nozzle on Badger Air Compressor?20 Oct 2003 14:42 GMT4
Hi, I have a question about my Badger 180-11 air compressor, used with
a vl3 Paasche. I would like to get a water trap/filter, as recommended
by the airbrush company, but most of the traps I've seen are listed as
having a 1/4 in/out pipe thread. I measured the nozzle/nipple on the
Magpie Warning20 Oct 2003 12:35 GMT16
No, not those hopeless footy players...  the feathered kind!  When checking
out all the new coloured grain hoppers etc in Junee yard, it would be a good
idea to wear a hat, as the resident magpie is a bit snappy at the moment,
and very persistent.
"In between" building models20 Oct 2003 04:49 GMT3
Everyone,
I've put together a decent number of Walthers plastic building kits,
and in Model Railroader I see advertisements for "high quality" kits
that can cost literally hundreds of dollars each.
Western Class 5220 Oct 2003 03:22 GMT1
Anyone know if a Western Class 52 Diesel is available RTR? If I have to add
a green non steam thingy, this is it!
