Undoing the effect of cool white flourescent lights19 Oct 2003 22:25 GMT17
Woodland Scenics Fine Turf in Earth color has a decidedly green tinge to it
under cool white flourescent lights. I suppose that's because they give off
a bluish light. Is there any way to mix a turf that will retain its earth
tone (basic brown), perhaps with another color of turf?
Bulk Rail19 Oct 2003 21:17 GMT2
How many suppliers of bulk rail for hand laying are there? Searching
the online dealers I only came up with 3 - Micro Engineering, Walthers
and Central Valley.
Central Valley refers to theirs as code 83/81. What's that? Is it

Does anyone know of a source for O scale vehicles. I'm looking for

Peco double slip SL-E19019 Oct 2003 12:26 GMT7
I've recently picked up some Peco 00 streamline double slip (electro frog)
SL-E190. Unfortunately there's no wiring instructions with them. I've tried
wiring them up but they seem to be permanently live, and I know I need to
use insulated rail joiners, but I'm wary of just wiring ...
Eastman Car?19 Oct 2003 11:23 GMT8
I have some old Canadian Pacific shipping bills from 1898, issued in
Fort Fairfield, Maine.  The loads are bushels of potatoes, and they list
the cars which are loaded.  Several state "Eastman car 50026", while the
rest refer to CPR cars and their numbers.
Types of freight car brakes19 Oct 2003 08:04 GMT4
Can anyone tell me the names of these two types of brakes:
1. The wheel is attached to a metal rod that sticks up above the roofline
2. The wheel is attached to the end of the car
I take it #1 is the older of the two types, correct?
Rub-N-Buff19 Oct 2003 06:51 GMT1
Does anyone have advice on using Amaco Rub-N-Buff metallic finish on styrene
models, as described in "Weathering Your Diesels," November 2003 Model
Railroader magazine?  I'd just like to capture the look of bare metal along
the edge of a plow blade.
7mm Aus modelling19 Oct 2003 04:45 GMT1
Just a note to anyone who is interested in 7mm/1/4" or any
other version of "O" scale modelling. A Yahoo Group has been formed to allow
members to discuss any & all thingss including the growth of the scale in
Australia, and we would love modellers with a hint of a ...
Christmas and toy trains19 Oct 2003 04:28 GMT1
Does anyone remember Vandenboom's in Kansas City? Dad used to take me there in
the Christmas season, there was a huge (to a kid) 4 track around the room
Lionel layout. We moved to Indianapolis in '51, but I've never forgotten the
place, always wondered what became of it. I'm sure ...
Kato viaduct track question.19 Oct 2003 04:05 GMT5
I just discovered that the largest radius n scale Kato offers is only
available if you get their double track viaduct track.  Does anybody know if
the track can be seperated from the viaduct?  I don't want the viaduct, just
the 16-5/16" radius track that is in it.
