really took off in the 1990's?  They seem easrier to model than a
class 1 but they lack the offical railroad atmosphere that previous
Class 1 operators gave to the lines.  For example, where I live,

Newbie requires help: Desk for Track Mat (6ft x 4ft)31 Dec 2003 09:40 GMT4
I have just bought myself a Hornby trainset and extensions A - E (Apparently
the full set?), with the default track mat.  I have been told that a minimum
of 6ft x 4ft is required to lay the mat.
My problem is that I am USELESS at DIY so building a desk is NOT an option,

I have some Tichy Train Group Coal Chutes #8059.
Unfortunately, although they only have 4 parts, I don't know they should be

Anyone using Digitrax with Windows XP or Linux?31 Dec 2003 08:51 GMT4
I'm about to purchase a DCC system for my layout. One of my requirements is
to have the ability to interface a PC to the system so that I'll be able to
automate various things (running trains, setting signals....who knows). I
checked out the Digitrax site and all I see is that ...

Hi, I'm glad to find this group and would like to benefit from the
collective experience.
My Dad, who dabbled in HO back in the 60s, has taken advantage of my son's
affinity for trains and my spare square footage to talk me into a layout. He

LIDS for table31 Dec 2003 00:51 GMT2
Is it easy to have a lid designed for your base board which will allow you
to covet the entire track and protect it when not in use?
The lid would need to have walls I suppose to give it the height needed.
Thanks again,
