Hornby 2004 Calendar17 Dec 2003 21:25 GMT31
The January issue of "British Railway Modelling", just out,  includes a give
away 2004 calender sponsored by Hornby. Quite a few illustrations of next
years re-liveried locos e.g

Hornby Q117 Dec 2003 16:15 GMT9
Has anyone fitted Kadees to this loco yet?
The NEM coupler pocket on the tender is too low, even for fitting at
Kadee's recommended height for HO stock.
I notice also that in the description of the loco on the back of the box
Relative tractive effort17 Dec 2003 08:08 GMT9
Just out of interest has anyone made any tractive effort comparisons between
Bachmann's new 4 axle drive "Peak" and Hornby's 6-axle drive (with traction
tyres) "Hoover".
My layout's not big enough for a thorough test, but both seem *very* capable
WKW Super Chief Cars... a Note on one of them...17 Dec 2003 04:35 GMT7
In the past discussions about the upcoming WKW HO scale Super Chief sets,
someone mentioned that Walthers was simply reissuing one of the earlier
sleepers for this set, while creating a new one to cover the other (I have my
4-4-2's and 10-6's confused at the moment).

Okay - Have uploaded the latest ammendments to the goods website -
There remains a lot of work to be done on what has already been
uploaded, mainly in the way of drawings.
Reason for uploading an interim update was the info on Freight
Folwer 2-6-417 Dec 2003 00:43 GMT15
Having seen the new Hornby 2-6-4 tank, I was sortof unimpressed with how
plain it looks? Were they are plain as this? i.e.. it looks like how I
remember the body from 20 years ago, very little in the way on "bits" stuck
on  individually aka superdetailing of late. The chassis looks ...
Wolf Wagons17 Dec 2003 00:36 GMT2
Picked up a limited edition G.W. crocodile G at Warley off Southampton MC
for the bargain price of £8! It came with an anchor as the "special" load
and was described as a limited set (500 produced) of 6 wagons produced by
"Wolf Wagons."

Removing the early BR logo from the Hornby Q116 Dec 2003 22:06 GMT23
Have just tried to remove the early BR logo from the Hornby Q1 I have, but
the usual white spirit / enamel thinners aren't working at all well. Can
anyone advise me if they have found a more successful way to remove this
logo without damaging the plastic of the tender?
MR [1/04]: Cover Questions16 Dec 2003 21:01 GMT8
As I look more carefully at the cover of the 1/04 Model Railroader
[which, BTW, is a magnificent looking cover - the paper and image
quality being the best that I can ever remember], I am trying to
identify some of the cars on two of the trains.
