Bachmann latest12 Dec 2003 20:44 GMT1
I've just been told (17.21 Friday 12/12/03) by Bachmann that:-
"More Class 44's have arrived this morning.
The Blue Deltic arrives in the morning (Saturday) as do the Pannier tanks
and class 37 in Railfreight.
railway brick colour?12 Dec 2003 20:34 GMT4
I have to paint a brick bridge over a track.  The original was built in
'Railway Brick', which is a blue colour.  What would you recommend from the
Humbrol range or Hi Grade acrylic.  The serial number would help me a great
deal.  TIA John
Mantua loco - needs new motor?12 Dec 2003 19:29 GMT5
I have a Mantua 2-8-2 that is about 12 years old, but has probably
fewer than 3 hours on it since its spent most of its life in storage.
It has never really run too well, and at this point I constantly have
to tap it to get it to go.  It is almost impossible to keep it at a
collapsible 4' x 8' table?12 Dec 2003 19:25 GMT2
Merry Christmas to all. I finally got rid of my big sheet of plywood and
its cumbersome support structure that I used for several years to set up
the holiday layout. It just ate up too much storage space in my tiny
house. Now I need something else. I'm thinking about making a
Layout of a wye12 Dec 2003 18:53 GMT8
Are there any formulas for calculating the length of a leg for a
symmetrical wye?  Guess this is probably why I should have listened
more in geometry class.

Viruses etc12 Dec 2003 16:24 GMT2
Someone on this NG has a virus - a bunch of "delvery notification" etc
messages are showing up. So kindly run your AV programs. If you don't have
one, get one - even -- gasp!!!- pay money for it. It will save you (and the
rest of us, too) loads of aggravation.
O27 Engine12 Dec 2003 09:29 GMT3
I recently bought the New York Central Flyer train set[1] from Lionel for
my family to put around our Christmas tree.  Everything works great but
I've run into an issue with the engine.  Acording to the manual, you're
supposed to always keep some fluid in the smoke generator or else ...
New speed record12 Dec 2003 08:47 GMT33
Well, on CBS news they just said the Japanese have just run a Mag-Lev
train with passengers on board at 361 miles per hour...
...meanwhile, Mag-Lev trains in the US are dismissed as impractical and
unproven technology.

Train Display, Hamilton Oh Dec12 Dec 2003 05:48 GMT5
The Senior Citizens center in Hamilton Ohio will have their open house
including the big train room in the basement open the evenings the week
before Christmas week. It's a very nice setup. Lots of old timers have
brought in their trains and worked on it for many decades. It's ...

fares please12 Dec 2003 04:52 GMT13
I read that if you have a long track you should have a power "feed" every
few feet because of the voltage drop over a length of track, particularly
for DCC. They say to install a "bus" i.e. a piece of wire or copper tape
from which the feeds are taken. But why doesn't the "bus" ...
Nephew Xmas present question12 Dec 2003 03:45 GMT2

wanted to find out if there are any things to watch out for as far as incompatibility with
Mehano brand tracks or are they compatible with most NA ...

Were the Victorian Stations on Main Street of Disney World and Disneyland
modelled after any specific reallife railroad stations?

New Details on Hornby 5011 Dec 2003 23:52 GMT2
I find it very strange, that as the Hornby class 50 is said to be in
demand, (and I'm sure someone else on this group has splashed out for one!)
I find it odd that until I got it home, I didn't find out about the little
extra features - surprised no one here had mentioned them?
