Project: North Shore "ferry truck" flat cars09 Feb 2004 10:17 GMT11
As my Baldwin DT-6-6-20 is nearing completion I have started on another long
awaited (for me) project. I've been wanting to create a small fleet (6) of
Chicago North Shore & Milwaukee "ferry truck" flat cars with trailers.
I had been hung up on this project by not having the ...
NEED HELP PLEASE - Deemulsifier09 Feb 2004 05:21 GMT12
My father is an avid model railroader, and has finally acquired a space
large enough to permanently set up his O and HO gauge trains.  He is
preparing the ballast on the layout roadbed.  His ballast instructions
include a mixture of white glue, water, and a "deemulsifier" to break ...

Turnout Motors08 Feb 2004 20:37 GMT15
Construction starts this weekend in my garden for my new OO guage layout.
I've decided to go for DCC as I'm a computer technician and I like the idea
of being able to set up some automation - ie computer runs some trains while
I drive round them.
Decal solution08 Feb 2004 20:06 GMT4
I have heard from someone that decal solution (i.e. the stuff that softens
transfers to go round corners etc) also dissolves off the horrible carrier
film varnish stuff. Is this true? And if it is, which brands are recommended
(i've heard of Microsol) and from where are they ...
Re silver jubilee info08 Feb 2004 15:25 GMT3
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for all the info, especially Craig,
who was a great help.  I'd have posted earlier but I caught a bug that's
going around here and haven't been near the computer much.  Couldn't face
the spam LOL!
Another Horizon/Athearn Stupidhead move.08 Feb 2004 08:58 GMT67
Just heard from both my local train dealers, that the distributor they
get virtually all of their train stuff from (Linton's Roundhouse in
Burlington Ontario), has been told by Horizon to take a hike. She
formerly got a lot of Athearn stuff through Walthers, but now she

Ever heard of a "Platelayer"08 Feb 2004 07:19 GMT27
Circumstances led me to a website in Norway where the railfan calls the
site "platelayer".  When I asked him what it meant, he supplied a link
to an online dictionary which stated it was a person who layed railroad
tracks or plates.  Anyone else ever heard of this word?  I think it

Isolating Track07 Feb 2004 21:39 GMT3
I have a problem that Im hoping someone will know how to fix.
