If not aware of it by now note that many P2K engines will have sound in
their next release.  See the German "All American Trains" site for listings.
Drover's caboose plans28 Feb 2004 06:21 GMT11
Does anyone know of a source of plans for a drover's caboose?  I can't find
anything in the all-time index and would love to scratchbuild (not kitbash)
one.
Athearn parts not available28 Feb 2004 04:33 GMT45
Here is the text of a fax we received from Horizon today:  We are unable to
fill your request for Athearn parts at this time.  As you know, availability of
Athearn parts has been scarce to say the least.  We have a logistics team in CA
attempting to solve the distribution problem.  ...
Newbie question: Model railroad jackpot?28 Feb 2004 02:05 GMT3
Greetings all,
My neighbor's son was recently introduced to model railroads by one of
his Boy Scout leaders and wants to get started, so I'm looking to put
a nice 'starter set' together for him for his birthday next month.

I am looking for some curved rerailers for tunnel track with no
straight-aways.  Does anyone know of a source for curved rerailers in N

DL 109 Pilot Filler27 Feb 2004 19:14 GMT8
Does anyone know if there is a commercial product that will fill the large

BLI SD40-2 photo's27 Feb 2004 17:45 GMT3
Hate to drag up the subject of trains in this group, but first
pre-production shots of the new SD40-2 are on the web site. I know they are
pre-production, main problem I see is the number of grab irons on the right
hand side of the rear end of the hood. If anyone more knowledgeable ...

Can one of the more informed historians on this group tell me when the date
when Freightrail was formed (early 1990s ??) and when it changed officially
to Freightcorp.

Trolley/interurban trucks27 Feb 2004 08:53 GMT2
I've been looking for underfloor power (more or less) for my soon-to-be
interurban fleet. The SPUDs are over $75, which is too much.
I finally got wise and looked at N scale for my power needs. I think I might
have found it. A switcher, I believe a Plymouth MDT (?) might just be the

[HO] Shinohara turnouts27 Feb 2004 02:54 GMT71
Walthers/Shinohara turnouts are being reworked and will be
DCC-friendly with an isolated frog (and not power routing).  The #4s
and #5s and a few curved ones came in stock at Walthers this week and
the rest of the line will follow.
Kato bumpiness27 Feb 2004 01:28 GMT5
Have been laying track on my new layout- code 55, Atlas.
All my engines have wheels that are low enough profile...except my Kato
mikado. All the drivers and tender wheels are fine, but the trailing tuck
under the cab has wheel flanges that are too large. The result- bumpity
