Steamer detail casting14 Apr 2004 18:20 GMT1
Have searched Cary and Cal Scale at Bowser looking for smokestack casting
suitable for an "FEF". Hate to start with brass tubing trying to fabricate
one in HO. Will look eagerly for any known prefab source.

Question on Centrally Placed Backdrops14 Apr 2004 15:14 GMT6
Every now and then, MR magazine will feature a 4x8 track plan that has a curved
backdrop placed in the middle of the layout instead of along the perimeter.
Apparently, this technique helps create an illusion that the train is going
somewhere and not just running in circles.  I like ...
Loco running light mod14 Apr 2004 14:52 GMT1
Does anyone know of a mod I can do to my N scale locos that will cause
the running lights
to burn with the same intensity regardless of how fast the train is runnung?
As it is now, the faster it's running, the brighter the lights and of
Peco Turnout with PL10 & PL13 - N Scale14 Apr 2004 13:16 GMT7
Does anyone ue the Peco Turnout with PL10 + PL13 on N scale?
I currently having problem when using those 3 products together, it seem
that the PL10 is not strong enough to either throw both the Turnout & the
PL13, or the PL13 is removing to much freedom of movement to the ...

Controlling a Tortoise from 2 locations13 Apr 2004 18:45 GMT16
This is probably old-hat to most of you, but I can't figure it out:
How do you control a single Tortoise machine (connected to a turnout,
obviously) from either of two locations (like: both sides of a
peninsula)?
bachmann class 2013 Apr 2004 18:35 GMT2
Have got one of the class 20's from bachmann, however unlike all the other
bachmann models l am running, it seems incapable of passing over any facing
points without becoming derailed.
Does any one else have this problem with this loco?

Class 04 livery question (Dapol kit)13 Apr 2004 17:47 GMT5
I've got my hands on a Dapol Class 04 kit after looking for a 'scenery'
shunter that can just sit in a siding and do nothing* - the parts are moulded
in black plastic, and a transfer sheet has running numbers D2277 and D2300
and BR lion-and-wheel logos. Here's the question: Would ...

I've got some nicely sifted, non-magnetic (yes, I tested it),
soil for my dirt roads.  But I want to sterilize it before I use
it.
I've seen articles about using an oven, but has anyone used a
