| adhesive for ballasting | 11 Apr 2004 20:42 GMT | 20 |
I keep reading that you mustn't use PVA for ballasting because it sets rock hard and transmits noise. We're supposed to use "artists' matte medium" or "acrylic matte medium". For example Iain Rice on page 147 of the January Model Railroader, or Wolf Kirchmeir in a posting here on 7 ...

| Satin/semi gloss clear coat revisited | 11 Apr 2004 00:59 GMT | 3 |
Greetings, Many readers suggested mixing dull and gloss clear coat overcoats when I was asking if anyone made a semi gloss. Since I didn't want to do that I kept looking. I thought I would let the group know I found a satin clear coat made by Model Master. Their number is 1959 ...

I have a Spectrum 'high boiler' 4-6-0. This is the 'painted/undec' version. The tender is short with a coal bunker(appears to look a lot like the 'Russian' 2-10-0 tender. Has anyone installed a Soundtraxx decoder in one of these? I am thinking that the B2100LC may just fit in

| Lamp irons\brackets | 10 Apr 2004 00:01 GMT | 4 |
Could anyone recommend a good, reasonable value source for lamp irons suitable for diesel locos? I'm imagining just bending up a bit of scrap brass and soldering into shape would do the job, but are there any more detailed etched examples out there?

| old chestnut I'm sure | 09 Apr 2004 15:12 GMT | 3 |
