| "Billboard" reefers and other freight stuff | 17 Apr 2004 21:04 GMT | 4 |
I'm just getting into model RRing (N gauge), and since my layout would reflect the late-1950s/early-60's era, the Atlas 40' billboard reefers has caught my eye for add a touch of personality and color to the layout. While I'm more interested in creating an atmosphere than

| Lionel HO Veranda | 17 Apr 2004 19:46 GMT | 3 |
Just got one in and have been test running it on the club layout. Overall it's a very nice model of the UP Veranda. With the sound turned off the drive system is very quiet and smooth running. Ran it from a "is it moving" crawl to full throttle. Handled a max 60 car grain train of ...

| Prototype sector plates? | 17 Apr 2004 12:54 GMT | 10 |
I know of a prototype engine release using a turntable (Bembridge IoW) and also using a traverser (Birmingham Moor St) but what about a sector plate? For that matter, what about in an industrial location? Are sector plates ever used on the prototype or are they just a

| DCC Receiver in an N-Scale 0-4-0 Switcher | 17 Apr 2004 07:16 GMT | 2 |
Has anyone had any success with installing a DCC receiver in an N-Scale 0-4-0 switcher? I have a Rivarossi unit with attached tender; the motor pickups are in the tender. I'm hoping that a Z-Scale receiver will fit in the tender. Thanks for your help.

| Hornby 8F | 16 Apr 2004 21:00 GMT | 7 |
Just to say again how very good this model is. It is far and away the smoothest runner on my layout, and its low speed control is superb. It's just a pity that fitting the decoder is such a cow! Thanks to all who recommended it.

| Brick Wall Decals | 16 Apr 2004 01:26 GMT | 7 |
I found an article while surfing the net by John Nehrich (sp?) who has a technique in which he uses a digital camera to get a picture of a brick wall, adjusts it in Photoshop, and then prints it out onto decal paper. He then uses liberal amounts of Solvaset and presses the decals ...

| AMI Instant Roadbed - How it went (and layout latest if you're interested) | 15 Apr 2004 22:40 GMT | 3 |
You may remember a few weeks back I asked for information on AMI Instant Roadbed. Anyway, found a supplier, bought a roll, and as promised, letting you know how it went. It's good stuff - I tended to measure it 'sticky side up', before turning it

| Heljan | 15 Apr 2004 16:27 GMT | 7 |
Got a circular letter from Heljan this morning which mentions ongoing classes 47 & 35 production, confirms development work on classes 52 & 57/3 but makes no mention whatsoever of the class 66. Are we to assume this is now dead in the water?

| Fort Bill Beds | 15 Apr 2004 12:36 GMT | 3 |
I'm trying to model the Fort William Sleeper circa 90-95 when it was still in IC colours and under threat. Can anyone give me the formation of the train and how many vehicles was normal? From memory I think the two GUVs used for motorail traffic was always up at the front, and I

For any of you guys into modeling the 1880's to the 1920's here is a link to a pictorial of Saint Charles Car Company rolling stock. It appears there were a great number of their products on the rails back then. There are lots of large very good quality photos of equipment from well ...

| 1950-60 RR route info? And a few other questions. | 15 Apr 2004 05:36 GMT | 6 |
I've been Google-ing my brains out on this one and haven't been able to find and answer. Hopefully someone here does. Simply put, is there a Web resource/link that will show me what railroads traveled what parts of the country between 1950 and 1965?

| Odd query re barrels | 14 Apr 2004 19:39 GMT | 2 |
If anyone frequents a pub using wooden hogsheads I'd be grateful if you could find the length and diameter - All to do with writing up wagon loads for the web site - My notes say . . . The sizes of wooden casks were semi-standardised, typical dimesions
