'Correct way' to install twin coil snap switch motors21 Sep 2004 23:06 GMT4
I have to maintain a number of twin coil switch motors on our club layout.
While we have replaced many with stall motor controls, many yards still have
the twin coils. But we have questions on the 'right' way to align the twin
coils. Seems to be more of a lost art around here. At ...
00 model cars21 Sep 2004 21:57 GMT25
I am just working on my very first model railway and I am targetting the
late 50's very early 60's so as to get steam and diesel on the model.
I am however struggling to find a source for vehicles from that era, can
anyone help.
Scotrail DBSO21 Sep 2004 21:35 GMT2
Anyone know who makes the cast cabs for the Mk2F DBSO? Or more to the
point do the kit manufacturers do them in RTR (I appreciate that would
cost a bit)? As my conversion skills aren't too good and my painting is
even worse....
To all newbies!21 Sep 2004 20:59 GMT91
I guess one can't expect wonders when paying only 6-8 dollars for a
freight car, but what a piece of garbage I got with Athearn's bargain
freight cars! I would heartily recommend  not purchasing bargain
freight cars, but go for the higher quality, regardless of the brand.
Athern coupler pockets21 Sep 2004 20:44 GMT13
Okay gang! I've got a problem with the couplers (kadee or athern) staying on
Athern cars. My grandson is driving me crazy replacing couplers on his HO
train. Is there any way to keep the snap-on clips from popping off the
athern cars? Or is there a replacement cover that can ...
FS Many old HO trains21 Sep 2004 19:48 GMT6
I have a person wanting to sell some trains that her husband had collected
for the past 30 years. The trainns are HO scale, the engines are all heavy
cast metal. I will post pictures to

Sociology of model railroading21 Sep 2004 18:15 GMT70
Is this overanalyzing what should just be a fun pastime or is this a
useful analysis of the hobby?

Texnrails Fraud Warning21 Sep 2004 08:12 GMT59
This is just a quick note that Texnrails sent out an e-mail about a
month long sale in September.  The promise is buy three get one free.
It is a lie...  There is no real sale.  Their page says this...

1) The WISE Division starts up the monthly  meets again.
1a) Dave Sima takes home at least one award from the model contest every
month. (You have to respect a guy that can deliver 2-3 models & photos a month
to the contest).
noch scenerary21 Sep 2004 06:39 GMT2
Has anyone any views on the Noch pre made scenerary boards. I am
tempted but before I splash out I would appreciate any comments...i.e.
excellent quality but very expensive or vastly overpriced. I was
looking at one of their larger layouts which is around £1300.
Manufacture of Locomotives21 Sep 2004 00:10 GMT147
To All: I am aware that due to cost a lot of alleged manufacturers have
moved their actual manufacturing to ReD China, but is there any alleged
"American" trains still made in the USA? Is is only the Flieschmann
trains that are still made by the original country/manufacturer? ...
Dr. Bernard Weller, Exactoscale20 Sep 2004 17:20 GMT1
I thought someone else might have reported it by now,  but I have seen
messages on some mailing lists reporting the death of Dr, Bernard
Weller of Exactoscale.   He was one of the people in the forefront of
the Protofour developments in 4mm scale modelling over the past forty
Band Saw for Modeling20 Sep 2004 17:05 GMT9
I want to buy a band saw to cut wood & plastic that is 1/4" or less in
thickness. I've looked the variable speed mini saws from Proxxon &
Micro-Marc, but I'm nervous that they run at too slow a speed.
Any advice?
