Read on a private mailing list that Athearn is substantially  
reducing the price of its HO Challenger 4-6-6-4.  Reason for this
has been suggested because another H0 Challenger manufacturer may
be leaving the field of H0.

Sorry chaps, still grappling with the very different methods on US
railroads (up to now I have modelled the UKlines)
Can anyone tell me what the rules were regarding the bell on the
engine? Is it only used when approaching grade crossings and stations?

I just worked out what I need in the way of decoders :
3 with sockets no lights (Bachmann 20, 25 and 55)
1 with socket and directional lights (Hornby 50) - presumably with reversed
socket

Thought you'd all like to know that there's an online documentary about
Britannia (first standardised locomotive ever built in the UK... and still
alive and well and running somewhere in the west country).
This is a stream (no downloads reqd ). Also it's free.

Does anyone in this group use Railway Engineering turnouts and could
give me some measures or a simple drawing of their #8 turnouts?
What is your experience with these turnouts and are they DCC

I am starting out, I have purchase my first train a DAPOL Pendolino as I
want to do a layout of the 90's to now.
I have one problem I don't know were to start. As in what board do I use,
what do I put under the track.
