Is there a solvent for epoxy?03 Oct 2004 02:48 GMT7
Is there a solvent for epoxy?
I accidentally got a few smears of the stuff on the brass sides of a kit
I'm putting together and nothing I've tried will remove it.  I've tried
mineral spirits, nail polish remover and rubbing alcohol.  I don't want
Track Cleaning Problem03 Oct 2004 00:54 GMT15
I have an HO layout in which my train performed flawlessly before adding
ballast.  Now it tends to operate sluggishly and slows down and picks up
speed then slows down, etc at the same spots on the track.  The culprit is
obviously dirty track perhaps from glue applied during ...
Narrow-Gauge eMagazine03 Oct 2004 00:37 GMT1
To all narrow-minded, sorry, narrow-gauged modelers.
On Friday 1st October, we launched our first eMagazine 'HOn30 Lines' in an
effort to raise the hobby's recognition of this particular niche group.
Please take the time to take a look at http://www.hon30.info and see what we

I got it running and this prototype costed me not more than hours and $15

BLI and MTH K-402 Oct 2004 18:59 GMT4
In looking at the recent publications, I see that both Broadway
Limited and MTH are preparing to release verions of the PRR K-4. I
have purchased a T-1 from BLI and I am happy with it. This is
speculative as neither company has released its model, but if you were
1 ditch light - is it typical?02 Oct 2004 14:08 GMT3
Proto 2000 GP30s have only one (dummy) ditch light... Is this typical
practice for these earlier engines?

DCC Models
model shops, North Westish?02 Oct 2004 12:42 GMT3
Can anyone tell me where I can find a decent model shop in the North West
(or even North East)
Not one that just sells Hornby/Peco/Bachman etc but one which stocks loco
kits/wagon kits/Scratch builder stuff?
web-site up-date02 Oct 2004 02:42 GMT1
The Skid Row kit from Downtown Deco showed up the other day so I slapped it
together because there was room on the layout. It will be perfect for
starting some real urban scenery.

I just read a book called, "Playing with Trains: A Passion Beyond Scale," by
Sam Posey.
I enjoyed it and highly recommend it to all model railroaders, new and old.
Here is a review that pretty much summarizes my feelings about the book:
DCC? should I or not?01 Oct 2004 21:21 GMT19
Having just started a new layout and coincidentally a much better paid job
I'm undecided what system to go for. I have quite a bit of old DC stuff but
it needs replacing in any case. Is there a simple DCC system anyone can
recommend? At the most I will have 3 locos on the layout ...
Kitbashing the Gas Station from Toy Story01 Oct 2004 11:10 GMT4
I saw Toy Story for the first time in years and got inspired to kitbash the
Dinoco Gas Station.  Does anybody know where I can get some plans or a decent
image?  (I don't have a way of getting the movie images other than taking
pictures of the TV screen.)  I did a Google search and ...
Who is building these environmentally more friendly loco's for UP?01 Oct 2004 10:04 GMT7
 "http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/040930/lath068_1.html"
Is this going to be a retrofit?  Or just new loco's?
