I am trying to build my first railroad layout for christmas this year.
I purchased a used MTH steam set with protosound 1.  I am trying to

I noticed if the direction/horn/bell buttons are pressed in certain
Help ID PRR S/L Coach18 Oct 2004 05:45 GMT1
At a recent swap meet, I almost passed by a table with a bunch of Rivarossi
PRR "1930" cars for sale.  Two plastic cars caught my eye, as they had the
distinctive PRR P85BR half-height windows at the ends of the cars.  All the
windows have nicely executed aluminum window frames and ...

I am looking for info on a Lionel U.A.W. Special rail set. New, complete,
never out of the box. It also has the presidents car they issued after the
train set.
The background is they were built abut 1993-94 as a project by the Lionel
FAQ(?): low-end DCC recommendation18 Oct 2004 03:14 GMT4
Can anyone here recommend a low-end DCC system? It should of course be
NMRA standard compatible, unless there's a good reason for sticking to a
one-brand system.
I'm located in The Netherlands, so a European brand is an option, but
FA; New ebay auctions18 Oct 2004 01:36 GMT5
I'm honest on the auctions! - I'd rather not get rid of any of these, but I
could do with the cash. Mr Artios' fault... ;-)

Container Shackles17 Oct 2004 17:02 GMT3
Is anyone aware of drawings and / or photos which would be of use when
producing castings of the hooks, chains, springs and screw adjusters
used to attach containers to CONFLATS?
... or, even better, where one might find a prototype set of fixings?

I recently inherited a few N scale diesel engines of various makes which
need to be disassembled for cleaning and repair.
Could someone tell me if there is a source on the web that has exploding

Waterfront Railroading Photos17 Oct 2004 00:08 GMT3
I ran across a book at the library this week that has a wealth of
waterfront photos in it, many with good rail shots.  The time period covered
is 1880s - 1930s.  The book is limited to New York Harbor, but in that
geographic area there is everything from shots of the old NYC ...

why here and not Yahoo Groups?16 Oct 2004 15:57 GMT128
I know there is the occasional post worth something here. Seems to me
that a newsgroup like this is still the wild west. Without a moderator
who can boot guys like the Epperson wanna-be a newsgroup like this
will never have a lot of value to those serious about staying on
Walthers: "Super Chief" - add on16 Oct 2004 03:24 GMT2
Could this dormitory car be added to the Walthers "Super Chief"
passenger train - or should I stick to adding repeat cars from the
original eight cars offered?
