Railroads Converting from Coal to Oil11 Nov 2004 21:07 GMT5
Guys,
I'm looking for some information about when railroads particularly those
in Texas and Oklahoma began to use oil for fuel. I've been gathering
information about a short line that operated from about 1890 to 1943 and I
Clover House Ties11 Nov 2004 20:19 GMT13
I want to get some Clover House PC ties. Does anyone know the stock number
for HO ties? When I sent the request with a SASE to them the reply was to
buy their catalog for $5.00. When I call them all I get is a fax tone. Their
web site only has a price list by stock number.
Track Planning Software11 Nov 2004 20:08 GMT6
I'd appreciate recommendations for track planning software or a link to a
discussion of same.

Ffestiniog and North Whales Locos10 Nov 2004 22:29 GMT12
Last year our family had a very enjoyable vacation in Wales, riding several
of the little narrow gauge railways.  I'd be interested in obtaining models
of some of the locomotives used there, such as the double Fairlies and
Garretts.
DC vs. DCC Question10 Nov 2004 21:22 GMT14
I am trying to decide on which way to go as far as DC or DCC. I am in the
early stages of building my layout so now is probably the best time to
decide.
My layout is only 4x6 and so there is only a small switch yard and two
SF Broadway-Limited 4-8-410 Nov 2004 20:35 GMT83
Is the paint job on this model correct or did Broadway-Limited take a short
cut and only half paint the model?
The engine itself is an oily or grimy black,  but the driving wheels appear
to be unpainted jet black plastic.
Freight Depot for passengers??10 Nov 2004 20:21 GMT13
Hi..
Would it be totally out of reality for a freight depot to double up
as a passenger station. Passenger  traffic would be minimal during the
once-a-day departure and arrivals and freight traffic at the depot
policeman figure10 Nov 2004 17:58 GMT4
It seems model railroad suppliers have the best selection of
non-military figures so I wonder if any of you know: do any do 1/32,
1/43 or (maybe) 1/24 policemen? They're the only scales that go with car
models, but I don't have much space and prefer not to use 1/24.

Customising Hornby track10 Nov 2004 02:50 GMT5
Usual story (I expect) - Built layout when I was 8-15 then girls, sport,
college, univ, job, wife, kids happened. Now at 36, kids are old enough and
keen on trains enough for me to start planning a layout after 21 year gap. I
did acquire some rolling stock during a brief ...
All Locomotive Consist10 Nov 2004 01:58 GMT31
I can't remember if it was this NG or over at the Trains Forum, but someone
was asking about an all locomotive consist the other day. I had never seen
one but someone suggested that they used to do it a lot back when they were
beginning to scrap old steam locomotives.
Wheels slipping on Atlas turntable09 Nov 2004 23:39 GMT3
I have an Atlas [Roco] GP30 that stalls on my Atlas turntable. Its
wheels are spinning but it won't move. This engine runs fine on all of
the rest of the track, and my other engines run on the turntable. Could
the wheels be worn down enough that it is dragging on the bottome of ...
