Santa brought me a brand new 50 last year but as I didn't have any track at
the time due to children, house improvements etc etc I have been unable to
run it until now. I took it out of the box last night and placed it on the
track. It works very poorly indeed! I have 2 old H&M ...

Lionel FasTrack26 Nov 2004 12:46 GMT10
My son is going to be 4 years old in January.  He wants his first
"real" train for Christmas.  I was going to buy him an "O" scale
Lionel train but, I hate the look of both their regular and FasTrack
track.  I found some Atlas O track that I liked but when I called the
Furano & Camerlengo: 1903 RUTLAND Truss Rod Cattle Cars26 Nov 2004 12:15 GMT3
A recent issue of "Railroad Model Craftsman" (12/04, page 99) included
an article showing early 36ft 1900 cattle cars. The RUTLAND" truss rod
car caught my interest. The article said these are available at the
Furano & Camerlengo Line. I can't find that mfr/retailer anywhere

Model RR Books26 Nov 2004 02:51 GMT9
I own one model railroad book: Realistic Model Railroad OPERATION by
Tony Koester. I have read it from cover to cover many many times. It has
been a great teaching tool as I slowly draft a layout on paper. I would
very much like to purchase a number of similar books, but I need ...
US exports26 Nov 2004 00:51 GMT10
Salvé
To my suprise I found out that some early US diesel locos were exported to
the UK, apart from the ww2 wartime steam locos I knew of the Midland
Railways import before ww1 of some (shortlived) baldwin steam loco's, I am
Flex track choices26 Nov 2004 00:32 GMT18
I am starting a new layout and need quite a bit of flex track.  I was
looking at my Walthers catalog and found a variety of manufacturers.  But I
am wondering what the differences are other than price.  I think I want Code
83 unless someone can tell me why Code 100 would be ...
How often do you change your layouts and why?26 Nov 2004 00:01 GMT1
I would like to hear from folks on how often they change their layouts.  Do
you change your layouts because they don't live up to your expectations? Or
because you just want to try something else?
I am relatively new to model railroading.  I got into the hobby four years
web-sit up-date25 Nov 2004 23:02 GMT10
With all the stupid bickering, name calling, politics and whatever, on this

See, some of you knuckle heads got me going. Are you happy now?
Phoenix Precision Paints25 Nov 2004 22:01 GMT1
I have been trying to contact Phoenix Paints for 2 weeks now, I know that
they have been handing over the managership., but that was to be done before
the 8/11/04. You would think that they would respond to the e-mails because
the business has to continue. Is there a secret address ...
Crossing baseboard joins25 Nov 2004 21:53 GMT14
For layouts where the baseboard is made of a number of units and is
frequently disassembled, what is the best ways of dealing with the track
which crosses the join?

Bachmann DCC starter kit25 Nov 2004 20:20 GMT2
Does anyone have any experience of the Bachmann starter DCC set?  I am
thinking of taking the plunge and I find the price of the Bachmann kit
to be attractive.
I understand that it is NMRA compatable, and so will operate with things
