| MTL couplers on Spectrum 2-8-0 | 15 Dec 2004 06:11 GMT | 5 |
Help. I'm writing from the edge of blindness after working for an hour with the MTL #2004 coupler, getting it ready to install on the tender of my Spectrum 2-8-0. First, I assume that I will have to remove the old coupler pocket, file the tender bottom smooth, and drill a hole ...

I finished building my first n scale layout with some turnouts a few days ago. To test the tracks, I try to run the steam loco at max speed through all the tracks. That works pretty good with some occasional hop here and there. When I try to run it with the cars, I have to slow down

| Gorre and Daphetid | 15 Dec 2004 03:01 GMT | 304 |
I decided I would like to build the, "Gorre and Daphetid", on a 4 x 8 plan. Where can one get the track plan without having to invest a fortune in an antique book or magazine? A photo copy would be fine and I'd pay the postage.

| Austrains comp: T class query | 15 Dec 2004 02:02 GMT | 1 |
Got the latest Austrains newsletter, and on perusing the T class order form, saw something which made me wonder. From the list, it seems series 2 high nose were in the block of 357 to 364, but the photo of T360 I sent you, taken at Ballarat East in 1971, clearly

| DCC | 14 Dec 2004 23:12 GMT | 115 |
I am contemplating getting a DCC system. What happens when you switch from controlling one train to the next? I understand that the previous train continues at the existing speed, but what about the newly selected train; the control will still be in the position used for the ...

| Toy Trains? | 14 Dec 2004 13:06 GMT | 5 |
I often read the expression, "Toy Trains", in magazines, advertising and on web sites. How are we model railroaders, hobbyists, scratch builders, and true rail fans, etc, ever to be distinguished from toy trains people?

| Bachman question | 13 Dec 2004 22:28 GMT | 17 |
I have been told that the Bachman On30 rolling stock can be run on HO scale track. Is this true, and has anyone had any experience along these lines? My wife want an "under the tree" train this Christmas, and I have a loop of Kato Unitrack that might work. It has also been ...

| N Gauge 25Kv EMUs | 13 Dec 2004 19:40 GMT | 3 |
Has anyone managed to buy or produce 25Kv EMUs in N? I am planning a Beds/Northants railway and would love to include either 321s or even 317s but I can't seem to find any body sets or appropriate chassis. I don't mind some DIY but I don't want to use the DMU chassis from the ...

I am hoping that you can share some insights on your approach to these detailing questions ... 1) I was wondering when do you plan for, and add, buildings, streets, parking lots, automobiles, people, and etc. in the track design process?
