New layout tour on the NPF Railway!12 Dec 2004 05:39 GMT1
We've got a new layout tour of the NPF Railway!  This is the first tour
to show the South Fork, an expansion that almost doubles our track and
gives us a working yard.  It also presents a rolling-back of the
calendar, as the GP diesels and BN rolling stock are gone and some GN

Tech: Dim light in Lionel Steam engine12 Dec 2004 03:46 GMT4
I was wondering if there were some typical things to check on this.
My light in dim in my 2029 2-6-4 steam engine.
I put a new light in, the socker seemed loose so I tightened it too.
Now it seems dimmer.
Hornby 9F12 Dec 2004 02:22 GMT12
I am thinking of getting a Hornby 9F for my layout. Anyone have any opinions
of them, running etc. I have one second radius curve in the fiddle yard, all
other radius are larger.I will be using Digitraxx DCC if it makes a
difference.
Bachmann J39 and DCC12 Dec 2004 00:44 GMT3
I have a couple of Bachmann J39s and I'm thinking of changing to DCC. But
how can you install a decoder on a split chassis loco like the J39. (Are we
talking a new (Comet or Dave Bradwell) chassis??). Has anyone managed to fit
one and if so how??
DCC gremlins (revisited [probably])11 Dec 2004 20:51 GMT4
Whilst operating my layout (cough... playing trains) the other day, I decided to use (as loco 0) an unchipped Bachmann 08. A few other locos (all chipped) suddenly got the e-bee-jee-be's and started moving in all directions at varying speeds. I've seen postings before about locos ...

Hornby R 277 Bungalow - anyone got one FS?11 Dec 2004 12:36 GMT10
Has anyone got the Hornby R 277 Bungalow unmade kit knocking around and
don't need it?
I'd love one, but as it is now discontinued, I can't get one so far.
If anyone has one and is willing to let it go for a sensible amount (I'm
Soldering iron11 Dec 2004 11:54 GMT7
Any recommendations for a soldering iron? I'll be using it for all the
standard model railroading tasks, including installing decoders and
lights in locomotives and wiring the layout.
Specifically when I remember having problems soldering when I was

Kevin James' character, Doug, has a fiery mishap with his father's
Lionel layout at the "43rd Annual Model Train Expo" when his father
finally let's him have a crack at the ZW(after an entire childhood /
upbringing of not being allowed to run the trains) to bring the "Boston
Sierra in a G scale Bachmann Climax11 Dec 2004 00:02 GMT1
Anyone install a Sierra in this unit with the AUTO CHUFF only and have problems
getting the chuff sound to work? It is advertised to chuff auto with power to
the track only.

Need  10 minutes of someone's time?10 Dec 2004 17:36 GMT6
I've got problems which require studying the 4 x 7 Gorre and Daphetid
track plan, and a question.
Looking at the Gorre and Daphetid track plan, at  the bottom-right,
(the top left is the mine at Daphetid). The bottom right shows a

I just received a copy of Walthers HO 2005 catalogue, my first
for about 10 years since the total cost is prohibitive here in
New Zealand.

removing shell from an American Flyer 30310 Dec 2004 07:05 GMT2
The subject says it all.  How do I remove the shell from an american
flyer 303 locomotive? I've removed the shell from the tender, but not
from the engine itself.  I'm sure this is easy. Anyone have any quick
hints?
