Station Layouts29 Dec 2004 16:46 GMT2
For those budding real-life modellers out there, if you want to get an idea
of the actual layout of a station then visit www.multimap.com
If you find the station you are interested in (using postcode, name etc), at
small scales you can click "aerial photo" and get a  reasonable ...

I have two P2k S3's and want to convert them to DCC, the instructions state
replace the current board with a decoder and replace the headlights.  But it
never mentions what decoder will fit.  Any idea or suggestions?

Power for Diditrax DS5429 Dec 2004 12:28 GMT6
My question is with multiple DS54's are they all connected to the track bus
and to separate power supplies?  Also can several DS54's be connected to the
same power supply taking into consideration the load and rating of the
supply?  I am using Tortoise switch machines and will ...
OSH Train calendar29 Dec 2004 12:12 GMT3
For those of you in California and elsewhere where Orchard Supply Hardware
exists, check out the 2005 calendar with railroad pictures by Larry Fisher.
It is gorgeous. I got it as a gift from our bass player, so I don't know if
it is a freebee or a purchased item. Anyway, it is very ...
I just got my frist model train for Christmas - What should I add on first?29 Dec 2004 06:18 GMT3
I just put together my first train.  It's the Lionel New York Central Flyer
(with some extra track).  I'm looking to put on my first accessory.  Any
tips?  I'm thinking either a bridge or a station.
What are your tips for a newbie?
Christmas gift29 Dec 2004 05:51 GMT3
I received an Employee's Identification Card that was my father's years ago,
as a Christmas gift from my brother-in-law. There is no date on the front
and I cannot see the back without destroying the mounting that was done. It
is from the Nickel Plate Road. My father lived in east ...
Two questions for Hornby...29 Dec 2004 05:22 GMT77
1) What was the point of imposing an embargo on the model press then approving
the publishing of their future release plans by a rival railway magazine?
2) How did Hornby expect the details to remain secret in this age of the
internet when even the Home Secretary's dealings with his ...

Transformer Question -- Newbie28 Dec 2004 19:16 GMT3
Hello All and Happy Holidays...
I had purchased a Lionel Polar Express set for my son for Xmas and have run
into somewhat of a problem with the transformer (I think). This is our first
venture into motorized trains (he's been a wooden railway fanatic for
LOKSOUND3 SOUND DECODER Class 37 from South West Digital28 Dec 2004 15:53 GMT4
South West Digital have just released the new Loksound3 sound decoder for

Absolutely superb sound, fantastic quality.
Have done a small article on how I went about fitting it at
Peco 3-way turnout28 Dec 2004 15:11 GMT2
Does the electro frog version of this require power switching from
auxiliary contacts on a switch motor or can it be used without. There
seem to be a few reports of people having trouble wiring this type of
turnout. Note I am not concerned about whether this is desirable from
Lenz 0511 / Bachmann 0828 Dec 2004 15:07 GMT10
Have fitted the 1/2 amp 0511 module into a Bachmann 08.
Loco runs for a few seconds, then hesitates, and more often than not, reverses direction for about its own length.
Have checked wiring and all seems to be OK.
Was wondering if the 0511 isn't up to the job.
Underlay?28 Dec 2004 13:36 GMT10
Hi again all
What are people using as underlay these days? back in the 70's I used a foam
product, which was ok. Just wondering if the greatest innovators of the
world (model makers) have discovered a readily available, convincing and
