| Any word on the Bachmann HO Climax? | 22 Dec 2004 01:04 GMT | 6 |
I see on the Bachmann website they list in their "shop online" that you can order one of the new HO scale Climax locos, at US$275.00. Anyone see any more realistic prices out there? The "Ask the Bach Man" feature seems to be having problems, I got the

| Auto racks, loading there of | 22 Dec 2004 00:58 GMT | 2 |
Finally finished one of the Accurail tri level auto rack cars. It is of impressive length (90') and height and can readily serve as a "clearance car" to check out tunnel and bridge heights and to collide with anything too close to trackside.

| Anyone use the RIX Pivoting Turnout Linkage? | 21 Dec 2004 20:48 GMT | 1 |
Looks like a reasonable product for situations where a tortoise won't fit directly under the tie bar. Also, lots cheaper than the Tortoise remote mount kit. Has anyone used this RIX product? how long is the wire that extends up from the plate that mounts under the roadbed?

| Videogames are much more interesting than model railroads !!!!!!!! | 21 Dec 2004 18:40 GMT | 15 |
Yes, model railroads are the PAST, videogames are the future, so throw away the old railroad-rubbish and buy yourself an XBOX or a PS2 and play exciting games which are much better than the boring trains doing nothing...

| How many layouts use TV cameras? | 21 Dec 2004 13:25 GMT | 2 |
Now that TV cameras have become so cheap, maybe more model railroaders are using closed circuit TV to keep track of trains in obscured areas. Our club has had about 8 cameras and half a dozen monitors (old Commodore-64 monitors $10 ea) for a number of years. A recent desire

| Yesterday's Swap Meet in Toledo, OH | 21 Dec 2004 12:48 GMT | 4 |
Did anyone in the group attend yesterday's swap meet at the Lucas County Rec Center in Toledo? While I thought the dealers were pretty well represented, I was surprised at the relatively small turnout. I got there around noon, and the crowd was about "moderate" at best. A while ...

| airbrush paint booths | 21 Dec 2004 01:58 GMT | 14 |
The current thread on airbrushes has me thinking about getting one. But... seems like I ought to get a paint booth if I'm going to do that. After pricing a few of the options, it seems that the cost of an airbrush and compressor don't look so huge compared to the cost of a

| Railway Modeller c.1960-1961 | 20 Dec 2004 22:11 GMT | 5 |
Does anybody out there happen to have a copy of the Railway Modeller somewhere in the early 60's that featured Jum Russells 'Little Western' layout. I would be grateful for a copy of the article(s), for which all reasonable expenses would be met

| N gauge WW2 british army figures | 20 Dec 2004 21:16 GMT | 3 |
Does anyone know an online supplier of N gauge figures? I am looking for WW2 british army figures. I need some that are marching and some that are waiting for a train. Home guards would also be good. The only onces I have managed to find are in a guns out ready to shoot position. ...

| "No more lights" from Bachmann? | 20 Dec 2004 19:44 GMT | 11 |
There's a revealing statement on Bachmann's DCC FAQ page http://www.bachmann.co.uk/dcc3.php4 to the effect that built-in lighting is "mostly on American models" which suggests they have no intention of fitting lights to future British outline. Indeed it would not surprise me if ...

| Turnout/radius opinions | 20 Dec 2004 17:26 GMT | 32 |
Newbie here. I'm trying to design a layout in HO and am presently limited to about 5' x 8'. Most of the "small" layouts I've seen seem to rely heavily on 18" radius curves and #4 turnouts. Yet, I read here and other sources that #4 and even #6 turnbouts should be avoided. I ...
