When were these first used on the Santa Fe? What other roads have them? Do
any of the manufactures of plastic models have plans to produce any? Thanks,
Bruce
Bachmann Quality02 Jan 2005 14:29 GMT11
I am just moving across to UK Outline in OO from Continental in N gauge.  My
first experience was a worry!.  I called into my local model shop and
purchased a Bachmann Class 45 diesel in BR Blue, model nr. 32-676.
The shop opened 5 of these before the sixth box produced a model ...

The builder in the picture looks justifiably proud. Certainly beats the fruit
bowls they used to make us turn at school.

Length of Hornby stock02 Jan 2005 12:51 GMT2
Anybody know if the lengths quoted on the Hornby website are buffer to
buffer or coupling to coupling?
Cheers.
Saw02 Jan 2005 12:47 GMT16
Not quite the right forum but I wonder if anyone hereabouts has anything
along these lines - a mini jigsaw that can be clamped upside down ... (One
example here  http://www.chronos.ltd.uk/acatalog/Mini_Tool_Range.html
Jigsaw - "Scroll Saw 60W") if so can anyone suggest any other ...
Electrical componants02 Jan 2005 12:31 GMT8
Where do you folks like to buy electrucal switches, wire and all
that miscellaneous stuff for your layouts.  We have a well stocked
electronic store here in town but they're very expensive.  11.00
for a DPDT toggle switch.  That's a lot when you need ten of them.
My resolution for 200502 Jan 2005 11:56 GMT4
Spend more time working on my layout as a whole; less time working on
individual models.

New Son, new layout!02 Jan 2005 03:27 GMT3
Well it's time for another move.
Swmbo is with child and thanks to the miracle of modern ultrasound we know
it's a boy (there can be no mistake - he takes after his father <grin>). Of
course being a bit limited in the bedroom department has lead to a decision
Help with removing ballasted track and plaster from ply baseboard02 Jan 2005 00:27 GMT8
I'm going to reuse one of my existing layout baseboards in my new layout. I
need to remove the scenery from it first. The board is 6mm ply top.
Is there an easy way to remove the track (not going to reuse as it's code 80
and am now on code 55). The track has one or two pins but is ...
Austrain Clearance Sale01 Jan 2005 23:10 GMT3
I was thinking of a trip down to Sydney and might consider personally
checking out the Austrains Clearance sale.  I was also considering
inspecting Toms Discount for the first time.
I notice from http://homepage.idx.com.au/austrain/news.htm that Austrains
How big a part does nostalgia play on your railroad?01 Jan 2005 21:52 GMT15
While engaged in a typical year-end reverie, the above question began
to gnaw at me. For reference purposes: my own system is an HO scale,
late '30s, mostly steam operation. As I am probably older than the
majority of subscribers to this group, I'm sure no one will be

Has a new supply source been found?
uphill power, n scale01 Jan 2005 02:31 GMT5
My loco will not make it up a little hill that I made with more than
three cars. It is a bachman that came in a basic set. Are there more
powerful locos? Do I need a more powerful power pack? Thx,
Andres
