layout, and I have some questions...
About the Lenz DCC system and the decoders - I have seen on their website ...

Dual-lamp E units...23 Feb 2005 19:21 GMT1
In a dual-lamp E unit with a Mars Light on the top, which would be
appropriate to be turned on in forward, and which in reverse? Would it be
prototypical to have either lamp on at all times?

Do consider slow and powerful and inexpensive turnout machine controls -
Roto-Motor, Scale Shops, Tortise, etc.
Some less than $7.00 in kit form  ----

I have been inspired a lot lately with miniature railways and would like to
start building a 7.5" guage loco.  I would like to start off with diesel,
hopefully an S class.  Where can I get the nose cones etc for these models?

diode matrix with tortoise switch machines?23 Feb 2005 06:21 GMT5
I'm planning on building a yard using Tortoise switch machines, and I
wanted to have the ability to be able to press a button on the control
panel that corresponds to a track for which I'd like the turnouts to be
throw/aligned. As I understand it, this is accomplished using a diode

Name of Lionel Civil War them set (modern era)23 Feb 2005 02:24 GMT4
I am coming up empty searching through Lionel catalogs and e-bay for
the name of a ready to run set.  I saw the set in a local hobby shop
several years ago.  It was a modern era ready to run set with a civil
war theme.  Evidently civil war is not in the title of the set.  I

Fitting lights to carriages22 Feb 2005 09:31 GMT7

I'm thinking a couple of white LED's could be appropriate, with the

How to drill locos for Kadee couplers?22 Feb 2005 04:09 GMT10
I have two Athern Locos I want to add Kadee couplers to.
I know I need a 2-32 screw, and a #50 hole.  How to get the hole drilled?
Which Dremel drill should I get?
Or should I use a normal drill, but which bit?

BR Numbers for GWR locos22 Feb 2005 00:27 GMT9
Does anyone know of a web site that lists the numbering changes from GWR
loco numbers to BR numbers. I am finding out which of the GWR locos required
for my layout are sold under the guise of a BR style and numbering (such as
the BR 4MTs from Farish).
