Peco crossovers14 Feb 2005 22:10 GMT23
I have a bjiou promlem-ette with some Peco diamond crossings.  The way
they are built, there is an exposed rail-end of opposite polarity to
the adjacent rail such that if the back of the wheel touches it, a
short occurs.  But the other end, where the adjacent rails are of the
Model rail scotland14 Feb 2005 20:10 GMT6
I'm trying to get to Model Rail Scotland in Glasgow but thanks to
network Rail closing the WCML between Preston and Carlisle I have found
it to be easier to travel and stay in Edinburgh and get the shuttle to
Glasgow from Edinburgh for the show.
Not OT: Flywheels14 Feb 2005 08:24 GMT13
Hello. I'm after a flywheel of decent weight (1 kg) to help smoothen out the
movement of a turntable on my layout. I've had a good web search, but can't
find what I'm looking for. Can anyone point me in the direction of a
supplier of larger flywheels, with a 4mm shaft diameter, ...
Diary of a semi-beginner's layout14 Feb 2005 03:03 GMT24
The layout size is determined: two 4x8 tables in an L shape.
The lumber has been purchased:  enough to build one 4x8, while salvaging
another 4x8 from a 15 year old layout my kids lost interest in.
The terrain material has been selected:  2" pink styrofoam sheets,
Shinohara - anyone have used switches or crossovers for sale?14 Feb 2005 02:05 GMT3
I note many folks are getting out of their Shinohara stuff (and other makes
perhaps) due to it being incompatible with DCC. If anyone out there has
switches in CODE 100 HO for sale I would love to hear from you.
I am particularly interested in Nickel Silver:

John (and anyone else who gets out there photographing 12inch to the
foot)
I recall seeing a picture of a Class 66 in an unusual livery in the last
couple of months - It wasn't EWS or DRS, but apart from that I couldn't
need pictures of how to do a drop leaf in a HO layout14 Feb 2005 00:35 GMT5
Does anyone have any pictures of how they did a drop leaf on there
layout ?
I'm getting ready to add a drop leaf to my layout. 30" wide and 24" to
drop.
Welch International Railway14 Feb 2005 00:14 GMT1
Back in the 1960/1970's, there was in Sheffield an extensive model railway
known as The Welch International Railway (WIR), named after it's owner, Des
Welch. He was a genial Irishman who worked at what was then English Steel
Corporation. The layout was built using Hornby 3-rail ...
Copperclad Diamond Crossings13 Feb 2005 22:44 GMT3
Folks,
I have been constructing OO pointwork using coppercald sleepers and code 70
rail for very many years now, with a great deal of success and satisfaction.
Starting a new layout as I did, a couple of weeks ago, I decided to
Snow ploughs13 Feb 2005 21:59 GMT2

Also what greys do I need to paint the same loco in Dutch livery, and

Modelling trees13 Feb 2005 20:27 GMT28
I am currently trying to model trees for my railroad. I've tried my hand
using lichen and armatures from Woodland Scenics. But, truth be told I'm not
happy with my results. Can anyone offer me some suggestions for working with
the lichen, or other methods that will allow me to ...

Layout ideas... help!!!13 Feb 2005 17:36 GMT9
I am in the process of building my terminus area. Behind the terminus along
a long wall I intend to have a high street that is raised higher than the
tracks, but with a hill running down into the station area. I am using
Metcalfe half relief shops.
