MR Freight Yards book31 Mar 2005 17:32 GMT4
Anybody know if "The Model Railroader's Guide to Freight Yards" (Model
Railroader Books) is any good?  Trains.com sent me a "special offer"
e-mail, offering to save me a whole $5 if I bought both it and "The Model
Railroader's Guide to Freight Cars".
Wiring Lionel 153 Signal Block31 Mar 2005 16:10 GMT3
I have created a block using insulating pins (put in the middle rail).
I believe I have wired the 153 signal block and 153C contactor
correctly:  1 to green, 2 to red, 3 to transformer, and middle terminal
on signal block to transformer.
Book suggestions for newbie loco scratchbuilder31 Mar 2005 14:19 GMT4
I'm seriously thinking of moving into scratchbuilding
for some new stock (simple locos, trams, carriages &
wagons - EM gauge - yes, I've got the EM Society's
handbook (and pretty good it is too)).

for.
BR black Hall class 4-6-0 "St Edmund Hall" again in limited quantities.
Hobsons Bay exhibition31 Mar 2005 05:02 GMT4
Those of you who will  be attending the Hobsons Bay exhibition this weekend,
come and say hello as I help operate Denis Gilmore's DIRT steelworks layout.
You can even have a go at shunting and loading the coal wagons if you want.

Momentary, position-indicating switches?31 Mar 2005 02:50 GMT14
Anyone know of a source for momentary, position-indicating toggle or
slide switches with the following logic, to be used to trigger
twin-coil turnout motors and hold position indicating LEDs?

New look GNER HST30 Mar 2005 21:07 GMT20
GNER's 43118 "City of Kingston Upon Hull" is now sporting rather fetching
new headlight clusters with Group Standard Headlights (with combined LED
tail/marker light).
The clusters and horn-grille are finished in silver (presumably to match the
Coach combinations 30 Mar 2005 20:01 GMT6
I'm building a model railway, which will be a two-track mainline and single
branchline, set "somewhere north", covering both Midland and Eastern Regions
and set in mid-50's to mid-60's.
Some of the through trains will be parcels/mail and also sleeper services.
Looking for Boxes30 Mar 2005 19:10 GMT6
I am wanting to track down a range of nice boxes that will enable me to
house my locos and carriages neatly. I imagine them to be made from heavier
cardboard than Hornby/Bachmann supplies and if possible would have an
embossed and coloured finish - prefer red, but will consider ...

Two engines-same track-one faster!30 Mar 2005 04:44 GMT12
My 4 x 8, (HO scale), has not yet been divided into Cab Control because
I'm still not quite sure whether it would be practical for such a small
layout.   And as of now, I only have ONE power connection to the track.
at the far end for testing purposes only. And it's more than ...

Hello all.  I've been doing a lot of research before
jumping back into the hobby.  Although my layout
will be freelance, I do want some assemblance of
realism. As such, I have a couple of questions.
